We recently took in a beautiful male Golden Retriever, estimated to be around 5 or 6 years old. He had been wandering a neighborhood for some time before kind strangers were able to safely catch him. They couldn’t keep him and were preparing to release him again—but we couldn’t let that happen.
We’ve posted on Nextdoor and put out signs to try to find his owner, but so far, no one has come forward. In the meantime, he needs to be seen by a vet. He will need to be neutered, have bloodwork and X-rays done, and receive a full check-up.
He is sweet, gentle, and well-behaved, but clearly needs veterinary care. He is not neutered and appears to have issues with his hips or back. He walks fine but avoids jumping or putting much weight on his back legs, which suggests he may need X-rays and further evaluation.
We already have an elderly dog of our own with high medical costs, along with other animals, and simply can’t afford to cover this unexpected need on our own. But we are committed to making sure this sweet dog gets the care he needs and never ends up in a shelter. If we don’
