About this campaign
I adopted Toby at 8 weeks a little over 9 years ago. He has been a very skittish kitty but I have gained his trust as long as I am not trying to groom him or trying to get him to take medicine. When he was a baby he startled and rushed out the door and ended up spending 24 hours cowering in a thicket where I finally found him after searching and calling for him all night.
Toby was not wanted by my other two cats at first but now they groom each other and fight like a brother will with his two senior sisters. Very often he cuddles around them for a warm and cozy sleep. He loves laying in my lap or between my legs when I am sleeping. He is very shy around visitors but will peek around corners to check them out.
Toby loves to jump at laser lights, trying to catch them. One thing about him that is so endearing is that he looks up at me with questioning eyes when I am reading in bed, waiting for me to invite him up to join me. And I love it when he gazes at me with such loving eyes. I can't bear to think of losing him because I can't afford his healthcare.
Over the past few months, Toby has frequent bouts of hard coughing/choking and violent sneezing which sprays white mucus and blood from his little nose. And he has lost a lot of his boyish energy. Antibiotics have not helped. Vet says his rotten teeth are most likely at fault. Senoia Animal Hospital vets Phillips and Alford have estimated $1859 for procedures to include multiple extractions.
I am 75 years old living on retirement income that is $500 above the poverty line. I have absolutely maxed out what I can pay monthly for all expenses including what I have put on Care Credit for Vet visits. I despair of the idea of having to put him down for lack of funds.
