About this campaign

For over 10 years, Tom survived life the only way he knew how—outside in a cat colony, facing the elements and relying on the kindness of dedicated caretakers. He started out feral, unsure of people and the world around him. But over time, something beautiful happened—Tom learned to trust. He became affectionate. He began seeking attention. He chose connection.

When his longtime caretakers sadly passed away, Tom’s future became uncertain. Thankfully, compassionate people stepped in to make sure he wouldn’t be left behind, and Adopt a Cat Foundation welcomed him into rescue so he could finally experience safety and care.

Now a senior, Tom should be enjoying a peaceful, comfortable life. But recently, he’s begun to show signs that something may be wrong. He’s slowing down. He’s lost fur on his tail. His skin—especially on his head—has become flaky and irritated. These changes may seem small, but in older cats, they can signal underlying medical issues that need prompt attention.

Tom is heading back to the veterinarian for a full exam and bloodwork to determine what’s going on and how we can help him feel better. Whether it’s a manageable skin condition, thyroid issue, or something more serious, early diagnostics are key to giving Tom the best possible outcome.

After surviving so many years outside and finally learning what it means to be loved, Tom deserves comfort—not uncertainty.

Your donation will help cover the cost of his veterinary visit, diagnostics, and any treatment he may need moving forward. Every dollar helps us ensure that Tom can enjoy his golden years feeling safe, healthy, and cared for. If you can’t donate, sharing Tom’s story helps us reach others who can. Please help us give this once-feral, now-loving senior the care he deserves.

5/15/26 Update

Tom recently had his follow-up veterinary visit, and we are so relieved to share some good news with everyone who supported him.

His bloodwork came back looking great overall. While he was found to be slightly anemic, the anemia is very mild and does not require treatment at this time. His veterinary team will simply continue to monitor it during future checkups to make sure he stays healthy and comfortable.

Even better, Tom has been feeling noticeably better since his visit. His dandruff and flaky skin are already improving, and he seems much more comfortable. After spending so many years surviving outdoors, it means the world to see this sweet senior finally getting the care and attention he deserves.

Because of your kindness, Tom was able to receive the diagnostics and veterinary care needed to help him continue enjoying his golden years safely and comfortably indoors. Your support gave this once-feral boy reassurance, relief, and a brighter future.

From all of us at Adopt a Cat Foundation—and especially from Tom—thank you for caring about a senior cat who spent most of his life overlooked. Your generosity reminds us that every cat, no matter their age or past, deserves love, comfort, and compassionate care.
