About this campaign
Stray started coming to my parent’s home. Started feeding him, noticed he was limping. Caught him and brought him in the house looked at his paw, open oozing wound. Took to vet hospital in North Haven. Determined he would need leg amputated. Quote was $8,000.00. Didn’t have the heart to put him down after Vet said that he’d do very well with 3 legs and that he was about 1 year old.
Very friendly cat. We checked with animal control, lost pet site. Couldn’t find the owner, if indeed there was a previous owner. He might have something wrong with his hind end because whenever it’s touched he does scratch. He has not had an X-ray yet. I’d assume they’d do this on surgery day.
Cat has been in the house for 3 weeks and just trying to keep him comfortable. He does have a sore leg and limps when he walks so we are not really trying to play with him. Just keeping him comfortable.
Took to a second vet who said the same thing, amputation would be necessary. $2,400-2,900. Vet thought he’d be able to get funding for surgery. Found out 3 days before surgery that there would be no funding.
So far the cost for both hospitals has been approximately $600.00. My parent’s are 87 and on a fixed income . The surgery has potential to be an additional $3,000.00
