About this campaign
Tootsie - last name Pop - was rescued by her parents in 2013. She found her calling as a therapy dog for children at a residential treatment center, working with her clinical therapist mom. No matter what, Tootsie could put a smile on a child's face and their minds at ease. Whether it was reading books to her, playing fetch, or just having a good snuggle session, Tootsie was always there to serve.
Nowadays Tootsie spends her days as a full-time big sister, helping raise two little ones in the family home. Whether they want to play, run, wrestle, nap, snuggle, or eat, she's always ready and willing. Ever the loyal companion, she simply loves being along for the ride. Since her paralysis, she can't do much, but she's still there to pour out her puppy love at every opportunity.
Tootsie is definitely a kisser - with a ninja tongue that'll find your mouth like a lightning bolt if you get close enough. She's highly skilled at taking up the entire bed, always preferring to settle behind a butt under the covers. She's a relentless hunter of house flies, a dedicated lover of puddles, and despite being all bark and no bite, she's had a very successful career as a guard dog.
Tootsie is suffering from Grade 5 Intervertebral Disk Disease. At 8 years old, she went from being her lively, energetic self to being paralyzed from the waist down overnight. A ruptured disc in her spine is causing so much nerve damage that she can't feel her bottom half, nor control her bladder & bowel functions. The surgery boasts a 90% success rate - but at $7000, is beyond her family's means.
If you feel led, please help support Tootsie and her family's pursuit of this treatment. Any contribution, be it donation, prayer, sharing, or otherwise, is meaningful and sincerely appreciated. Thank you, and God bless.
