Topper is a 4 year old Mix-Breed in WYANDOTTE, MI, who needs $1,145 for Dental Extractions and Periodontal Gum Disease.

“Topper” came to our home thru the adoption program at the Brownstown animal shelter. He’s a Maltese - Shitzu mix approximately 4 years old. Initially he was picked up as a stray and brought to the shelter and adopted for a short period and returned. We were thrilled to welcome this little fella into our home having had a Shitzu for 7 years which we unfortunately had to put down.

We took Topper to Southgate Animal Hospital to bring his vaccinations up to date which were covered by Brownstown Shelter. It was during this visit we learned that he had some extensive dental problems. We could see from the beginning he was missing a few teeth but we were told he had periodontal gum disease and would probably need additional extractions as well as treatment for his gums.

Topper fills a significant emotional void for my wife and I especially after losing our little Gizmo 4 years ago. He’s a wonderful companion to each of us and a source of joy in our lives each and every day! I enjoy our daily walks immensely and my wife loves his perky disposition and playfulness.

We started looking at bringing another dog that fit into our home about a year ago but because we are living on fixed income (Social Security) supplemented by my wife’s part time job at Meijer’s we had almost given up on finding the right one for us. Topper was a perfect.
