The Road to Safety Depends on This Van- Help Keep Lifesaving Transports on the Road

Before sunrise, volunteers with One by One Animal Advocates load dogs and cats into their transport van, each one beginning a journey toward a second chance. Some are leaving overcrowded shelters where time has run out. Others are traveling to foster homes, rescue partners, or adopters waiting to welcome them into loving families. Many have never known kindness before that moment. For these animals, this isn't just a ride. It's the trip that saves their lives.

Since June 2024, this single transport van has become one of the rescue's most valuable tools. Nearly every Saturday, volunteers drive more than 600 miles across West Virginia and Maryland, spending up to 14 hours on the road coordinating lifesaving rescue transports. During the week, the van continues making trips to Cincinnati, Akron, and Youngstown to bring vulnerable animals to safety.

In just two years, the van has traveled an incredible 110,000 miles helping save countless dogs and cats. But after so many miles spent serving animals in need, the van itself now needs help.

During the most recent transport, the driver noticed the van becoming difficult to control around curves. A mechanical inspection revealed serious repairs are urgently needed, including a replacement rear differential, transfer case repairs, and new brakes. Without these repairs, the van cannot safely continue the lifesaving journeys that so many animals depend on.
