About this campaign

About a year and a half ago, my boyfriend gave me a pitbull puppy for Christmas. We named him Troubles. If was so playful and happy and I fell in love with him immediately. My pitbull mix, Mala, needed a little more time to warm up to him. But, jealous as she was, even she couldn't resist his playful nature and they were best friends soon after.

Not too long ago, I moved back in with my mother to be her caregiver. She had been diagnosed with alzheimers. That meant that the two big dogs and I share one small bedroom. and that's about it! That's why I got in the habit of taking my dogs with me wherever I went. Until Troubles started having problems, that worked out fine. Unfortunately we can't do much of that anymore.

My situation is much the same as many others right now, I think. Taking care of my mom is pretty much a full time job except I don't get paid for it. I pick up odd jobs here and there but not enough to pay the bills AND still put aside any for emergencies.

According to the doctor at Brookfield Pet Hospital in Fountain Valley, CA, Troubles has Entropion in both eyes. That is an inversion of his eyelids, causing irritation to the surface of his eyes that can lead to corneal abrasions and ulcers and are very painful. It can only be corrected through surgery.

Whenever I get the dogs chewy toys, Mala goes in my roommates room and Troubles comes to mine. A minute or two later, Troubles goes to find Mala. When she sees him, she gets up and sneaks to my room and steals his chewy. Troubles comes back in, feeling triumphant with Malas chewy in his mouth, only to find that his is gone! They play this game over & over but Mala always gets them both in the end.
