Truman is a 10 year old Greyhound in Geneva, OH, who needs $1,816 for Dental Extractions and Eye Pressure Testing.

With no place else to go, plagued by high blood pressure and blind from Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), NE Ohio Greyhound Rescue knew that Truman needed to be in special care asap. Now, as a senior dog, he's developed cataracts, and they need to test his eye pressure for glaucoma regularly. Removing the cataracts won't restore his vision, but if left untreated, it could lead to glaucoma.

Truman inherited the genetics for tooth and gum issues, which are common in some greyhound bloodlines. No amount of brushing, scaling, liquid additives, or wipes would prevent gum disease and tooth loss. He's had to have many teeth extracted due to excessive gum recession in the past and now it's time to extract his remaining teeth before serious infections set in.

Truman is truly a special guy, as sweet as can be, a true Velcro dog and wonderful companion. He's found his place on his caretaker's bed. He’s found his courage to explore, to love and to be loved. Every day brings smiles as Truman adjusts to his handicap and thrives.

4/23/26 Update

We needed to rush Truman to the hospital yesterday because he suddenly could not open is right eye. A month ago, he developed posterior lens luxation in that eye and we've been monitoring him closely for signs of changes in eye pressure. Yesterday, he was diagnosed with Uveitis, low pressure and inflammation. He's started two medications to help with this and will go for a full workup on May 7th. Please keep his in your thoughts. 5/12/26 Update

Thank you so much for all the support for Truman. He is adapting well for life without teeth and never misses a meal! Sadly, he's had some serious complication with his eyes. Please look for his new campaign to continue to help him. Thank you, again!
