About this campaign
Tux (short for Tuxedo) was adopted from a local rescue organization. She was actually scheduled to be euthanized, but one of the workers felt that, given the chance at their facility, someone would want her. They were right. She is an absolute love bug, extremely intelligent, fun-loving, and goofy! Tux shares a home with Otis and Knuckles, also rescues from the same organization.
Due to either trauma (she and Knuckles love to play chase, tug-of-war, and secure the perimeter or the property) and/or breed Tux tore her cranial cruciate ligament. Dr. Lehua, at Pahoa Animal Hospital, gave us two options; do nothing, which would eventually lead to arthritis, or surgery. The high-end quote being $5000.
She's literally a 60 pound lap dog. She'll bark at strangers and anything that crosses the front of the property but she's never displayed any aggression. She and Knuckles came into our lives after our having to put down three dogs, due to various illnesses, in the span of one year. I have had a dog since the age of 13. I'm now in my 60's. They really do bring great joy to our lives!
The high-end quote is something a little out of our financial reach, and an expense we are not prepared for. She is only 2 and doctor believes that with surgery, she will return to 100%.
