Tweety is a 2-year-old Pitbull mix in Drake, ND, who needs $1,500 for Heartworm Positive.

Tweety came to me after my last Pitbull died in March 2021. I was in a low place when a friend informed me about a beautiful dog looking like my dog available from Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot ND. I applied and I adopted her on April 2 2021. She filled a hole in my heart I thought would never be filled again. She is a wonderful, smart, full of energy. I just love her to pieces.

Tweetys loves to watch TV!! Especially Subaru commercials. I will turn on YouTube and find a Animal movie and she will just watch it. Even laying on the couch if she hears any animal noises on TV she instantly will poke her head up and just stare at TV tilting her head like she understood what they said!! Bedtime she always has to sleep with me!

I am on a limited SS income with no extra way of paying the $2000.00 bill to treat her. She is covered by Nationwide Pet Insurance but was told they will not pay for the heartworm positive citing a prior condition.

When I adopted Tweety was told she was heartworm negative. She came out of Oklahoma so testing was required by SVAS in Minot. They did NOT start a treatment of Heartgard to prevent heartworms. So June 2 at her initial vet appointment to get her spayed her blood test showed her heartworm positive. Sheridan Animal Hospital in Harvey ND is providing her treatment

She enjoys outside life! Fetch is her favorite game with her bag of tennis balls! It's a wonderful way to spend summers days when your retired. Going for walks is an adventure especially if she sees a gopher or rabbit!! Better have a hold on the leash or you'll go for a ride!! She takes the drain spout off the down spout looking for gophers! Very inquisitive!!
