Urijah is an 8-year-old Bullmastiff in Summerville, SC, who needs $2,000 for Cushing’s disease.

Urijah came home when he was 46 days old. He’s named after UFC fighter, Urijah Faber “The California Kid.” He joined my family which was only myself and my female Bullmastiff, Savon, at the time who was 2 years. Him and Savon were inseparable until her passing in February 2019. My family later included my daughter and we added another female Bullmastiff, Shania, to our family in November 2019.

Urijah is a true Mama’s boy! He’s constantly by my side. As a disabled veteran, he’s been way more than a dog to me. He’s my best friend & service dog I never knew I needed (isn’t certified). He has the heart of a service dog, always making sure that I’m okay. He waits for me at the stairs before he’ll go down and he comes in the bathroom with me and waits until I get up. He also sleeps in my bed.

Urijah’s favorite person is his Mama hands down. If I happen to go into another room, he immediately has to come find me and make sure he knows where I am. He also likes his human sister because she feeds him and makes sure he gets his medicine. It took a while for him to warm up to his fur sister. He’s become very vocal since being diagnosed with Cushing’s. He’ll bark until he gets cookies.

I’m seeking help for Urijah who will require ongoing treatment for Cushing’s disease. The initial testing and diagnostics are expensive and have already totaled $1,599 in just two months. He was initially seen at Summerville Pet Clinic by Dr. Bice and since referred to Internal Medicine at Bluepearl Specialty Pet Hospital where he now sees Dr. Mims. We’ve had several appointments at each location.

I’ve had no issue caring for my pets in the past financially. Our family just completed a major interstate move six months ago and this is an unexpected sudden major expense. After the expenses of the move and getting settled into our new house I don’t have the extra money.
