Vader came to me from a friend whose danes had a litter. He was the first one born, and melted my heart. 7 years later he is still melting hearts. Vader is one of two dogs in our home. Our family consists of two dogs, two cats, my two children and myself. I am a single mother who is a full time nursing student and I work in the hospital.

On Christmas Eve 2024, I noticed a long abnormal bony formation on his front leg. I was able to get him into Homestead Animal Hospital in Mechanicville, NY on the 26th. We took xrays and it was confirmed that Vader had Osteosarcoma. Vader has always been the healthiest boy, so this was devastating news.

Vader is both protector and love bug. He will bark at any unfamiliar noises, but curl up on you to watch TV or go to bed. Vader is very aware of my children and watches them like a hawk. In public we get stopped a lot and people want to pet him. He sits and shakes paws and then off we go. He is a people pleaser and well behaved wherever we go.

I am a single mother, fulltime nursing student and what little time I have left I spend working at the hospital. Being able to save my boy would be the biggest most powerful gesture I could make. He has saved me and it is my time to save him.
