My baby has been diagnosed with rare Megaesophagus (ME), requiring upright feeding every 2 hrs/3 meds 3x a day. After each feeding/med she needs to remain upward for 30 mins for drainage through her esophagus. For her, there is a blockage caused by a vascular ring anomaly (ARA) that will need to be corrected by surgery once she regains weight and strength. 80% of surgeries correct her condition.

Initially during weening at 4 wks, vomiting and aspiration started and we saw our primary vet, she was misdiagnosed. Wk 6, we took her to ER and received a diagnosis, began treatment for pneumonia and they recommended euthanization. Wk 7, we had a f/u and she had lost another lb but AP improved. Next day, we found a specialist with a ME babe of her own, someone to empathize and strategize with!!!!

Aside from our many mouths to feed and ongoing rise in cost of living we had a major setback. Kitty cat Loki was admitted to ICU the same weekend of Violet's diagnosis.. 4k. My new CareCredit card was exhausted. Violet's meds and testing is currently up to 1.5k out of pocket
