My name is Waffles. Following a tragedy, I was rescued by a no-kill shelter in NY. On a fateful November day in 2014, I met Christopher who was dealing with a tragedy of his own. It was love at first sight and I knew I found my forever home. We’ve grown so much since that day and healed each other's wounds. He even brought home a mommy for me and with her, her own dog Sarge who is now my brother.

I like to think I am the ruler of the roost though my humans would beg to differ. I absolutely love affection and grooming. I even sit like a supermodel as my mommy trims my hair and combs me. I also love food, playing with my brother and going on adventures. Most important of all, I am happiest when all of us are together in bed for snuggle time.

I am fiercely loyal and love to love. I greet my humans with a chewbacca-esque growl every time they come home followed by zoomies around the house. I cuddle anytime and anywhere. The moment either of my humans sit down, I’m in their lap likely laying across them on my back.

In June 2023, our veterinarian diagnosed me with a complete right cranial cruciate ligament rupture and recommended TPLO surgery. While my humans saved for the surgery, they built me a ramp over the stairs to go outside, a fence to go around the couch and uninstalled the bed frame all so that I would not cause any further injury.

My humans are saving every bit they can to put towards my $4,300 surgery. They are always stressing out about it because each day I'm developing arthritis in my right leg. I know that they want to take me on walks and adventures again, but I physically can't with my injury.
