About this campaign

We've had Watson for 7 years. Since we were an army family, he moved with us 6 times before we finally settled down in a house with a backyard. Watson is named after the Sherlock series because he's the greatest food detective.

Watson's favorite activities are chasing snow balls, finding treats in his puzzles, and taking naps. He loves to sploot and sleep on his back - he always looks peaceful. He loves the snow, and we want to see him live until the next snowfall and beyond.

Watson is a gentle soul. He's patient and attentive, and he bring joys to everyone's life. Watson is really smart and learns words that we don't even mean to teach him. For example, he quickly learned to word "daycare," so we started saying "the place," which he also learned soon after. When we walk in public, he waits patiently while children of all ages pet him.

Watson had a hard time breathing, and the vet discovered a huge mass (44mm) in his chest. Because of the location, it was impossible to run the normal cancer diagnostic tests. The university veterinary hospital did a risky open chest surgery to remove the mass, which resulted in a week of hospital stay, fluids, oxygen, and pain medications.

One of us was recently laid off from work and is currently not employed. This is a sudden medical expense that we had not planned for, and we worry about the added costs of continued cancer treatments now and in the future.
