About this campaign

In 2023, we adopted Weavil after he was rescued from a shelter in the US from an organization in Nova Scotia. He was a puppy mill "father" for years before being sent to a high-kill shelter in Texas. We have been taking care of senior dogs for years now, so we want to help the older dogs with medical issues. He always gets the best care, but this emergency spun out of control with the ER fees.

Weavil has diabetes and is blind. He has also recently been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease. This past Monday, he suffered a spinal stroke and now has a lung infection. He was admitted to the hospital because he is now paralyzed, not eating, and now has a feeding tube. He is also receiving around the clock oxygen while his lungs heal from the infection/pneumonia.

Weavil had a rough life in a puppy mill. Before he came to us, he was returned twice by other possible adopters. We loved him from the moment we laid eyes on him. During an MRI last week, to look at his spine, a pellet from a pellet gun was discovered under his skin. I just want to provide Weavil with the most comfortable senior years that I can possibly give him.

The bill has ballooned to over $15,000 since Monday (3 days ago), and is expected to rise to close to $25,000 by this coming Monday, if he remains on a feeding tube and also having to maintain oxygen supplementation.
