About this campaign

We acquired Wendy 8 years ago as a surrender from family who could not handle her energy. We intended to foster her temporarily but decided to adopt her permanently after falling in love. Her name is a reference to Peter Pan, though she goes by the nickname 'Wendy Bear.' She lives indoors with us and is a beloved family member.

We first noticed Wendy limping and were immediately worried. The vet initially treated her for arthritis, but after two weeks of medication with no improvement, we returned for X-rays. The diagnosis is a torn ACL, and we were told that surgery is the only way to fix it. We just want to see her pain-free again.

She is best friends with her siblings, Bob (Yorkie) and Penelope (Beagle). Wendy is very loving but has a funny quirk: she claims a favorite chair and will scold you if you take it! She is usually hyper and active. It is heartbreaking because she still tries to play, but her injury holds her back and causes her pain.

This unexpected surgery is beyond our means. We are worried because the vet stated that delaying treatment could damage her healthy leg too. We just need a little help to get Wendy the care she needs to be happy, healthy, and walking normally again.
