About this campaign
Whiskey came into our lives very suddenly. My cousin frequently fosters animals. Three years ago, she brought a box of kittens and two dogs - Whiskey being one of them. We ended up adopting Whiskey and our first cat, Tony. They grew attached at the hip. They learned our older dog's, Daisy's, pet peeves. Currently, he has 2 cats and another dog that love to annoy him.
Whiskey loves to follow everyone around. He is at the door, wagging his tail, for literally everyone. He'd always fight with my brother and crawl on my mom. He always stood at a distance waiting for the love and attention to be directed at him. He was always the first one out the door when it was time for a walk - and always the last one inside.
Whiskey is a small dog - one of the smallest dogs we have ever had. He, from all our pets, is the only one that needs assistance to get on the furniture (bed, couch, chairs etc). Because of this, he is a big whiner. He whines and whines until we see him in order to pick him up. He has a small step to get to certain areas but he is the most precious and lovable dog I've ever had.
Whiskey recently suffered an injury to his spine. He was diagnosed with a dislocated disc. The VCA gave us two medical options 1) hemilaminectomy (spine surgery) 2) wheel chair and physical therapy. The most plausible option and the one we settled with was the wheel chair and physical therapy. We hope to one day have enough for the surgery.
During COVID, my mom (the main income in the house) lost her job. We have had to fill in the gaps. We have been privileged enough to afford our cat ER visits. But, this expense has come very suddenly. We foresee more vet visits for Whiskey so any help would be appreciated.
