Wilbert came unexpectedly into our lives about 5 years after the passing of our beloved Albert, a yellow lab. He was a rescue being fostered by a friend. He was only 5 weeks old and my friend allowed us to care for him over a weekend, and that was all it took. He was so calm, so loyal following us everywhere and always sitting as close as possible. Love at first sight.

Wilbert is so energetic even at 10 years old. He loves long walks and playing. You would never know by looking at him the difficulties he has with his diet , protein absorption and Irritable Bowel Syndrome that requires a very specific, expensive diet that includes special enzymes, B-12 injections and multiple medications just to try and maintain him.

Wilbert loves to talk and is very vocal. He plays, leaps, runs, skids still just like a puppy. He is a cozy snuggler that always finds his way to be close with us but he also has extended family that he enjoys visiting and always gets excited when we mention his name. Wilbert is a mix part boxer/pit bull and rottweiler. We heard all the negativity about this pit breed and he destroyed that myth.

My wife and I have spent 10's of thousands on Wilbert's special care over his lifetime (as we did with our Albert before him that also needed numerous surgeries) We both worked and it was never a difficult decision. We now are both retired and on a fixed income.
