About this campaign

I adopted Wilkie from a rescue, and his background is a bit of a mystery. He was found as a stray and is believed to be about 2 years old. He was turned over to a rescue group, and then spent a little time in a loving foster home until I was selected as his forever placement.

Wilkie has been diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called arteriovenous malformations (AVM). These are tangled webs of incorrect connections between his veins and arteries. Because this is such a rare condition, there are limited places with experience surgically correcting the malformations. The closest to us is UC Davis in CA, with treatmens estimates between $10,000-14,000.

Wilkie is a charmer who greets everyone with vivacious tail wags and happy barks. He loves to snuggle and get belly rubs, but he's no couch potato! One of his favorite activities is a game of chase around the backyard with his doggie siblings. He's also very headstrong and bossy, believing everything should happen in his time frame - whether it's about food, walks, outside time, or attention!

Wilkie's AVMs are causing constant swelling of his right front leg and high levels of pressure within his vascular system that are putting a strain on his heart. Due to this, he currently has a grade 2/3 heart murmur. Without treatment, this will only get worse with time.
