Willow is a nine-year-old Augie in Arcata, CA, who needs $2,000 for urgent leg surgery.

Christmas festivities and gift-giving are canceled this year in Jennifer M.'s house. They only have one wish: to raise enough money for their beloved dog, Willow, to have the urgent leg surgery she needs.

"We are looking for a holiday miracle," Jennifer tells Waggle. "We didn't put up a tree. The kids aren't getting presents. We are putting everything into helping Willow. She's our baby. We absolutely adore her."

Willow's veterinarian believes Willow tore the ACL ligament in one of her legs. Jennifer says she remembers to moment it happened. "We were at the beach, and she was running around," Jennifer recalls. "She was super happy one minute, and the next minute she was limping. We thought it would pass, but it didn't. We were so devastated. She's our baby. We absolutely adore her."

Jennifer and her husband are struggling to pay their monthly bills right now. They don't have enough to cover the surgery Willow needs to repair her ACL tear. "The amount of inflation right now is awful," Jennifer says. "It's unreal. We are currently pulling money out of our small savings to cover our living costs. My husband is working full time. I take care of the home and our family while working, doing childcare and photography, and work has been slow."

Not being able to get Willow her surgery immediately is breaking their hearts. "Willow is the sweetest thing on the planet. She has such little legs that hold up her body weight. She's limping and in pain. It's so hard for her. She can't even play with her toys. I just feel awful. I wish I could just fix it now," Jennifer says.

Jennifer adds that even her children are trying to raise money to help Willow. "She is technically our daughter's therapy pet, but she is medicine for all of us. She is so loved and loving. She loves to play, give kisses, and snuggle. She brings happiness to us and everyone who visits her. Our kids have learned so much about caring for her and raising her. They are helping a lot with our fundraising."
