About this campaign
On June 7, 2019, the kids and I went to Indianapolis Animal Care Services to participate in their "Freedom for a Day" program. Instead of freeing a dog for a day, we freed one for a lifetime! Willow came home with us and has been such a sweet addition to our family. She loves all of us, all 5 cats, and our other dog...who we mainly got for Willow!
Willow is such a spoiled pup! She loves laying on the couch and in our beds...she just wants to be close to her humans. She enjoys playing, especially tug of war with us and our other dog. She also loves to be outside, laying in the sun. She will always let you know she wants pets by pawing at your arm or by nudging your hand with her head.
Willow is such a gentle dog. She is a whopping 68# (down from 71#) and is a total lap dog. She takes treats gently (or romantically as we call it lol) and even crosses her eyes in the process. She is a talker, which is absolutely hilarious. If you talk back, she'll keep talking! She knows commands like sit, shake, lay down, come here...and can also catch toys and treats in the air!
Several months ago, we noticed a small lump on Willow's left side. Sadly, it has grown into a large mass that is in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. She also has a small mass on the left side of her face that continues to grow. On Monday, the Dr. Gangemi at Fort Harrison Veterinarians told me Willow will need surgery on November 27 to remove the masses.
The estimated cost of surgery is $1028.91, which includes sending the masses to Purdue for testing. This is an unexpected and sudden expense that I am unable to fund. The vet said it needs done before the mass is so big that there isn't extra skin to stitch together.
