About this campaign

Winchester came into our lives nearly ten years ago when he was just 3 months old. We adopted him from a great rescue here in Maine. He was transported here from Alabama. Although he was not our first choice, we are beyond happy that he chose us! He is our baby and a central part of this family.

Winchester is our rock. He acts like one of the kids and has to do everything they are doing. He loves all kinds of treats. He enjoys being outdoors whether it is hiking, swimming or just laying in the sun. He has always had a strong inclination to chase things that move so he enjoys chasing the snowmobile and kids riding their bikes.

Winchester loves to be with his people. He is always eager to go for a ride even if it's just around the block. He loves sitting by the fire at night and will let us know when it is time for bed. He gets very excited when fishing and is always so happy to meet new friends, human and canine.

Two years ago, just after his 8th birthday we got the shocking diagnosis of mast cell cancer. We brought him to the vets for an ear infection and what we thought was a cyst. In a two week period, 4 more bumps popped up. A needle aspirate showed mast cell cancer but it wasn't until we had the three first lumps removed from the back of his head/neck that we got even more terrible news. High grade

I am a stay at home Mom working on my teaching degree. We have already spent lots of money over the past 2 years on medication to control the cancer which has unfortunately stopped working for a tumor on the back of his leg. We have two young kids that need thei best friend.
