Winston is a 6-year-old Pit bull Mix in Elyria , OH, who needs $2,000 for Radiation.

Winney was coincidentally found by a family friend wandering the streets of a neighboring town underweight and starving. He was taken to the dog pound, where we later adopted him. From our understanding, he was a breeding dog that lived in a basement. It’s believed that his family discarded him, they were aware he was at the shelter and made no efforts to rescue him.

Winston left his past behind and now enjoys a life of puppy luxury. He has a warm bed, his own pillows and blankets and plenty of fluffy toys which he prefers to rubbery chew toys (he’s a bit picky). He greets everybody with tail wags and woo’s, asks politely before jumping on the bed or couch, and loves doing tricks for his favorite snacks (shredded cheddar cheese).

Winney is a talker! If he knows you’re speaking to him, he’ll woo in approval. He greets people at the door with a toy in his mouth to let them know they’re welcome. His personality is light, loving and certainly gooberish. He’s clumsy and sleeps in awkward positions, but makes up for it with his love of snuggles. In the summer, he likes to have a good tussle with the water hose.

About a week ago, Winney had his first nose bleed. A few nights later, another nose bleed occurred, this one much worse than the last resulting in an emergency vet visit. After stopping the bleeding and performing a CT, a tumor was discovered inside of Winney’s nose. A consult with Ohio State University’s Veterinary Oncology yielded the diagnosis of Stage I Nasal Adenocarcinoma, needing radiation

Winney’s treatment is expected to cost $5,000, and I’m a full time student. His entry into my life most definitely was the result of divine intervention, he’s brought so much joy and laughter into our household during such a rough time. We’d do anything to keep him healthy.
