Yuri is a 8-year-old Rescue mix in Presque Isle, ME, who needs $2,200 for Ultrasound, surgery.

Yuri literally walked into our lives when she was dropped off at our doorstep and walked into our house. She was maybe about 8 weeks old and very sick. We took her to the vet, and she became ours once we paid the bill.
For the last 8 years, Yuri has been with us. Due to Covid, my husband lost his job. We had to downsize and move.

Yuri was rescued, and I think she never forgot that. As a puppy, she was part of our work with high risk youth. As she’s gotten older, she’s gotten a bit more independent but still adores her family and gets excited to see us, despite the pain she’s in. She’s also very protective of her (much bigger) but younger “Saint Bernard” brother. She mothers him, and it’s adorable.

I don’t want to watch her suffer, but it wouldn’t be right to put her down. She’s a good dog who’s never done anything wrong. I want her healthy and happy again.

Yuri was diagnosed with bladder stones last fall. Her vet thought she’d be fine with antibiotics and food to help dissolve the stones. Despite my husband losing his job, we kept up with her prescriptions. Over the last month, her situation went from manageable to bad. Her bladder is full, and she needs surgery to remove them. The vet is Hotham Veterinary Services. Until then, she’s on pain meds.

Yuri is a good dog. It’s that simple really. She loves people. She loves her family. She even was the first to know and alert us to the need for my emergency c-section a few years back. Even now as I type, she’s lying under my feet. I wish I knew what else to say. She’s a good dog. She’s loved and loves.
