About this campaign

After fostering kittens for years I took a break for a few months in the wake of the loss of my senior cat after 17 years together. In November 2022 I decided to open my home again and took in a foster litter of 5 four week old kittens . The runt of the litter, then named Leonardo, immediately snuck into the hole in my heart.

Leonardo, now Zayda, is the sweetest cuddle bug. She climbs into my bed every night, demands her pets, and then nudges to get under the covers with me to go to sleep. Her eye condition has never held her back from being playful and affectionate to everyone in the house. She has even won over by grumpy cat Gypsy who doesn't like anyone.

Zeyda is very vocal. My kids and I play a game where you are challenged to try and pet her without her meowing at you. We almost always lose. She loves the comfort of cuddling up on top of someone. In your lap, on your shoulder, basically anywhere she can fit her body on top of your body.

During my time fostering Zayda's litter I administered 100s of doses of antibiotics for URIs. I expressed repeated concern that her one eye seemed to not be getting better. It wasn't until after adopting her that my personal vet was able to diagnose the condition as entropion. I changed vets to Dr. Rocky at Oakes Animal Hospital for a second opinion. Corrective surgery is her best option.

I just returned to my job after 9 months on disability for ptsd. Zayda has helped ease my panic. It has cost $500 in vet bills so far. I have put myself into debt to do my best for her and I'm hoping for a helping hand ther the surgery that she desperately needs.
