Zera is a 4-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat in Huntington, WV, who needs $935 for emergency surgery.

Zera must have realized she needed immediate help and found her way to a family's doorstep.

When the family opened their door, they were in shock! Zera's legs were covered in bloody pus. Turns out it was all coming from her mouth. She was struggling to survive.

The family rushed her to the emergency animal hospital. That's when someone contacted One By One Animal Advocates, who came to her rescue next!

"Her mouth was in such bad shape," Heather A., with the group, tells Waggle. "There was a high chance of the infection entering her bloodstream."

The veterinarian found Zera had hideously rotten teeth and a large mass under her tongue. They started her on antibiotics immediately.

Zera will need surgery to remove her infected teeth and the tumor -- which will be sent to a lab to test for cancer.

"Without this treatment, she does not have a chance of surviving," Heather says.

The group needs your help raising the money for Zera's operation. Her condition breaks their hearts as she is loving, sweet, and playful. Zera loves being around people and would love to have a family one day.

"Zera is why our rescue exists," Heather says. "A nameless, stray cat wandering the streets unable to eat, in pain, and at risk of death, entirely dependent on the kindness of humans to help her. Can we count on you to be her hero?"
