About this campaign

Poor Zeus! Lucky Lab saved this beautiful chocolate Labrador from a shelter where he was at risk of being killed for space reasons.

Soon after Zeus arrived at his foster home, his foster mom could tell something was not quite right. His eyes, mouth, and lips were scarlet red and irritated. His ears had raging infections. The rescue brought him to their veterinarian, who referred Zeus to a dermatologist and eye doctor at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists.

After many (expensive! Gulp!) tests, it turns out that Zeus has an autoimmune disorder that is allowing a bacteria called Pseudomonas to attack and overrun his body. Now Zeus' team of specialists and the rescue are trying to determine the cause of the autoimmune affliction, fight the bacteria and treat his symptoms.

"Zeus is seven years old, and he should be living in his forever home with a new family, but until he's feeling better, he needs to stay in foster care," Lucky Lab tells Waggle. "You can see what a great gem of a dog is behind those sad eyes. Our rescue doesn't shy away from helping dogs with medical needs."

His medical bills are now running upward of $4000. It's a tab the nonprofit rescue is struggling to pay. "When we take in a dog, we treat them like one of our own. Please help us raise the money to get Zeus the tests and care he needs to fix him up. We want Zeus to have an amazing life ahead of him. We want his luck to change! After all, he is with Lucky Lab Rescue!"
