About this campaign
I met Zorah at the Toronto Humane Society. She was surrendered into their care because her previous guardian had severe Dementia and could not care for her. The state of Zorah’s health showed it — she was skinny, dirty, and had very advanced gum disease that would require surgery to have all her teeth pulled before she was ready for adoption. She now lives happily in Toronto with me and my partner
Zorah has breast cancer and needs a Mastectomy.
Over 85% of cancerous mammary tumours in cats are malignant. We’ve confirmed that the cancer has not yet spread to any distant organs, most importantly the lungs. The only way to help slow or stop further growth is to operate sooner than later. Without this surgery, Zorah's life expectancy is around 6 months.
With surgery, 1-2 years or more!
Zorah is best described as having “angel energy”. Her personality is loving, gentle, affectionate, social, curious, silly, brave, humble, and patient. She enjoys long naps on her go-to spot on the couch, in clear view of the front door so she can guard the home. She loves giving kisses — also her favourite way to wake us up in the morning. Lately she has been bravely exploring her new cat tree.
Just before adopting Zorah, I escaped a relationship that was abusive physically, mentally, & financially. Following all this manipulation, plus the extended sick leave I took as a result, I went from having stacks of savings to stacks of debt in two years.
