We adopted Arrow at 6 months of age during the pandemic. He had been hit by a car and lost a leg. You'd never know his leg was gone though. He gets around better than most 4 legged dogs and he does zoomies like no other. He's been a great addition to our growing family. Getting along great with our cats and 2 year old son. Arrow is a big lover boy. He greets everyone with a tail wag. He loves to cuddle and would lick your face to death if he could. He loves his little brother and big sister and he two cats friends. He likes to cram himself on the couch with everyone and cuddle. He's a big fan grandma's house for all the treats. He's loves to sit on his butt with his one front leg out and balance for a treat. He favorite treat is cheese. He even sits on the house and "pretends" to be human. Haha he's loves chugging water then letting out a big gulp after likes he's satisfied. He barks up a storm when you get home from work. It's a great greeting. About 4 days ago Arrow stopped eating and pooping and was vomiting every time her drank water. He was lethargic and not acting like himself at all. He is at a veterinary emergency and specialty hospital right now while they try and figure out what's wrong. An exploratory surgery and found nothing. I was a stay at home mom for 18 months because we couldn't afford daycare. I just started a job 3 weeks ago so we don't have a steady income yet and barely make it by.

Sparky is only 2 years old but it feels like he’s been with us forever. He’s so smart he knows the names of his toys and everyone in the family. He’s an emotional support dog for my granddaughter and immediately knows when she’s had a tough day. I can’t imagine life without him. He’s gentle and loving Sparky came into our lives when he was 9 weeks old. We were all excited because we had waited for months. Sparky immediately bonded with my 10 year old granddaughter and they have been inseparable ever since. Sparky knows the sound of the school bus and runs to the front window watching and whining for Sophia. Once he gets a glimpse of her he runs to the door. He is a vital member of the family Sparky is a Velcro dog. You may think he’s sleeping so you get up to use the bathroom and when you look up there he is. Being with his family is what makes him happy and us too. Life wouldn’t be the same without him he brings a calm over everyone that meets him He can even count, he gets 3 treats after dinner and he will stare you down if he’s shorted them. Sparky was accidentally knicked with the clippers at the groomer and in no time the Knick got infected his belly and between his legs. The vet put him on strong antibiotics. But 3 days later we noticed his testicular area was now very swollen and purple. The vet added a second antibiotic and wash. now everything is black and the ER vet says ER surgery is the only way to save him My husband passed away during COVID so the past 2 years have been rough. It was sudden and unexpected and drastically changed finances. Sparky has brought joy back to the home. My granddaughter pleaded with me to not let sparky die like grandpa did.

Señor Blu is 2 years old and has the most amazing personality thats worth knowing. He is full of life silly, loving, protective and extremely smart. (He can open a door with his mouth!). Señor Blu came into our home during a horrific time for my family, bringing nothing but happiness and joy. Blu has been with us ever since, being the best fur baby/support doggie anyone can have asked for. Blu is a very playful pup, very loving and funny. He loves to sit on top of the couch and watch people outside. He loves to cuddle and play with a rub ball. Every where I go, Blu is there to follow. He loves car rides and playing in the park. Blu also loves to play dress up with my youngest daughter, play ball with my son, and go running with my oldest daughter. I am a single of 3 children and have been trying to do this on my own but now at the point that I must ask for help from the community. My family and I are asking for support in helping us with the cost of medical bills and the items he will need to live a full happy life. On February 11th, the vet informed me the Blu has IVDD for dogs. He lost mobility in his hind legs and now facing amputation in the left rear leg. Blu has been back to the vet 2 more times with another overnight stay since his diagnoses. With his new condition has came with additional health issues. One issue, causing his left leg to swell so much much it has torn his skin. Even though he lost mobility in his hind legs, and will have to wear a diaper for the rest of his life, he is still a happy trooper. Blu is very active and does everything his heart desires, although I have mini heart attacks with the stuff he tries to do! Plus, he enjoys his walks in his new wheelchair. It has been a transition, but he’s worth every life change we are having to make.

Chief

Chief is a 2-year-old Mixed Breed Dog in McDowell , NC, who needs $2,000 for Femoral Head and Neck Excision.

Chief showed up as a stray to our home. We put up fliers, facebook posts etc to find his owner. We fed him and cared for him for a week. We came home from church to find he had been hit by a car. We took him to a vet in Forest City, NC. He was not chipped. We named him at the vet. We had the vet put hip back in place, rabies shot, heart worm, flea, tick meds, etc. after 3 weeks hip would not stay Chief lives inside since his hip is not in place. He is the only baby in our family. He loves being with his humans. sleeps on his bed at the foot of our bed at night. He loves being outside. He loves having toys. He is friendly and loving and very vocal when you meet him. He misses being able to play outside in the water but we are afraid with his hurt hip that he will hurt it more. When chief first came to our home he was thin so we fed him. When we put the food in the bowl he looked at it, then looked at us, we told him to go ahead and eat and finally he started to eat. He would eat a couple bites, then he would wine and lick our hands as to say thank you for the food. He loves people. Chief was hit by a car and has a hip that won’t stay in place per the first vet we visited. Records sent to a specialist at a surgical clinic for estimate which is 3500.00. We have paid 800.00 already for his care to date, to try to keep hip in place but was unsuccessful. 4 Weeks now. We have taken Chief into our home as a stray and feel the need to help him to get the medical care he needs, we have paid 900.00 to date and planning on. 200.00 more to neuter him. This is an unexpected exp that we don’t have the money to have his hip fixed.

When I first saw "Phoebe" on PetFinder, I fell in love. She was found as a hairless stray puppy limping along the streets in rural TX. Despite all the obstacles she's faced, her positive spirit has always shone through. Her resilience has changed my entire perspective on life. Now known as Phoenix (or Fifi/Fi), she lives with my family and her two feline brothers in her comfortable furever home. Fifi has become the keystone of our family, bringing joy and laughter to our home every day. She is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle up with her humans at night. She is especially great with children, showing unmatched patience and gentleness. Fifi's playfulness and enthusiasm are infectious, and we can't help but feel happy when we're around her. Fifi is special in so many ways. Despite her difficult start in life, she has an unwavering spirit and brings so much love to our lives. She may lack boundaries (and doesn't quite understand personal space), but we wouldn't have it any other way. Her tongue is always out, giving her an adorable and goofy appearance that always makes us smile. Whenever anyone is feeling down, Fifi has an answer. Although Fi has quickly adapted to her ever-changing situation (hobbling with confidence!), we see her condition worsening by the day. She has gone from pouncing on her kitty-bros to now struggling to stand. She'd already undergone expensive surgeries prior to her adoption, but unfortunately, it is now worsening. Since meeting our doctor, we are positive she can cure Fi's ailments for good. I love Fifi more than anything. Seeing her in this much pain destroys me. I've been between jobs since being in a motorcycle accident last year, and I just found my pet insurance refuses to cover any of Fifi's recovery. I know she needs this, and I feel completely helpless.

Bayou

Bayou, the teeniest runt of his rescued litter, came into my life at a month old, five lbs, and faced medical issues from the situation he was rescued from. In two mos, I found myself with a 70 lb coonhound who loved to bellow at fire trucks. 13 yrs later, he’s seen me through all of life’s ups and downs, has a hound sister to harmonize with, and is the best companion any gal could ask for. Bayou unexpectedly got sick. He began vomiting, could not hold down food, and rapidly became so ill he could barely walk. He needed emergency surgery to remove his spleen due to a mass, remove an intestinal blockage, and biopsy spleen and liver. Surgery was very hard on him because of his age and we now have to navigate after care to get to a stable, healthy place. Bayou is the best, most intuitive, most loyal and protective boy in the world. We’ve been together though 13 years of life and lived in multiple cities. He not only provides constant emotional support, he protects me at home, on walks, at all times. I feel confident in saying I would not have been able to navigate much of life’s experiences without him. I cannot imagine a world without him. Bayous illness was unexpected and has amassed 20,000 in debt, which is still growing. He deserves the best in life, and I’ll do everything I can to keep him healthy and happy for as long as possible. His sister and I need him!

Winter came into our lives in April 2022 at the tender age of 5 months. At only that age she had already been in two homes. We got her from someone that was sheltering her as the owner didn't want her anymore. Winter was someone's Christmas gift that ended up being too much to handle and was given away. Winter is our funny, silly, always happy puppy. She is calm, doesn't bark, and loves to play with our two other dogs. Our other dogs just sleep all day long and don't know how to play together. Winter is the glue of the bunch. She plays with both of them! She is also my daughters best friend. anywhere my daughter goes, rest assured Winter is only a few steps behind. Winter thinks she is part cat and loves to climb things. She also thinks she is human and loves to sit on anyone's lap. If you are sitting, she will sit on you! She also lays on her back immediately upon meeting someone for them to rub on her belly. She makes everyone smile all the time. Our lives will never be the same because she is in it. Winter had to have 12 inches of her intestines removed as she had four punctures that would not heal. She is a mischievous puppy and will eat anything in her sight. she requires constant supervision because she will eat rocks, sticks, socks, and toys in a heart beat. Winter will require lots of medications and check ups post surgery. My current bill is already at $6900 that doesn't cover any of the take home medications. I've charged my credit cards and will need to pay those back.

Oakley

As a freshman in college (Circa 2014), I knew the very first thing I would do once moving out of the dorms was adopting my very own dog. Sure enough, I moved out and within a few short months I found Oakley(formerly named Biscuit) at the Lynchburg Humane Animal Society. He was only two months old at the time, now eight years, and has been by my side ever since. Oakley is by the definition a grumpy old man, who wants nothing more than to be a lazy "front porch" pooch. He thoroughly enjoys cuddles, belly rubs, and long naps. Like many hound breeds, his favorite time of the day is meal time. And he won't let you forget it! Usually ten minutes before mealtime, Oakley can be found nudging me through the house to find his food bowl. Oakley is special to me because he has quite literally been with me through the hardest season's of my life. Over the years Oakley has helped me face poverty, PTSD, pregnancy, child-rearing, and the general day to day stressors. Oakley became my official Emotional Support Animal(ESA) in 2022, and I truly cannot imagine my life without him. Oakley and I went into his annual vet appt this morning to get some xrays done on his hip. We found arthritis, which was expected but still costly and also requires life long treatment and liver monitoring due to the medications required. We also found out that Oakley has a heart murmur. More testing is required to figure out an exact treatment, but the estimated cost....is a lot. The heart murmur was an unexpected diagnosis, and I was not financially prepared for. I want nothing more than to give Oakley the quality of life he deserves. Knowing he is not in pain and able to live out the rest of his life as a happy dog would be a huge burden lifted.

Chowder

Chowder is a 15-year-old Maltese Shih Tzu in Los Gatos, CA, who needs $2,000 for Radiation for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

We adopted Chowder (had hernia & needed surgery) when he was 4 months. He enjoys being with the family, follows us around, snuggles near us when we’re in distress. He is very considerate, never complains. He patiently and quietly waits at the door when he needs to potty. He doesn’t whine when he’s in need, I often check when he’s out of sight to make sure he’s OK! We are grateful to have Chowder. Chowder’s “passion” towards food makes us laugh. He would swallow any edible/inedible things. Once he found Advils in our backpack & ate them all! Thank God we found out soon enough to save him. Since then, we put food and any other items up high so it’s unreachable. The one and only one food he would spit out is...celery. It makes us laugh to see his disgusted look when given celery! I work for people with disabilities and am unemployed due to Covid so I can’t afford to treat Chowder. We considered euthanizing, but he shows an intent to live. I plead for your support to help Chowder be well. I’ve never asked for financial help publicly. This is my VERY 1ST TIME. Chowder has squamous cell carcinoma (oral cancer). Dr. Kiselow at Sage Center confirmed that Chowder would suffer significantly, couldn’t eat, be in severe pain, and die in two months. Radiation treatment is the only option that can save him as the tumor location is inoperable. Without treatment, in 2 months he’ll suffer and eventually die. I cry everyday when I think of that. Chowder tilts his head & looks puzzled when he wonders and, sadly now, when in pain. He’s a clueless/innocent dog who doesn’t know to worry. His gaze tells you that he totally trusts you, which touches my heart. Chowder jumps excitedly when he eats. He used to enjoy playing fetch but now with the oral tumor, he catches the toy with joy, then drops it as it’s too painful to play (It breaks my heart).
