Maggie Alabama Survived Life as a Stray, Now She Needs Heartworm Treatment

When Maggie Alabama was found as a stray in Alabama, she was emaciated and suffering from a terrible skin condition. At just 2 to 3 years old, she had clearly already endured a difficult start to life. Maggie's journey to safety began when she was encountered during a mission trip. She needed help, and the person who found her couldn't leave her behind. Eventually, this sweet stray made her way into the care of Wags and Wiggles Dog Rescue, where she finally had the chance to begin healing. The difference in Maggie today is incredible. Once underweight and struggling with painful skin issues, she now weighs a healthy 39 pounds and has a beautiful, soft, fluffy coat. But while she may look like a different dog on the outside, she still has important medical needs ahead of her. Maggie tested positive for heartworm disease and has begun the lengthy process of treatment. She is also receiving ongoing treatment for a urinary tract infection and will need to be spayed once she has safely completed her heartworm treatment. There are also signs that Maggie may have had puppies at some point in her young life. Through everything, Maggie has remained remarkably gentle and loving. She is crate trained, house trained, and walks well on a leash thanks to the work of her foster, who happens to be a trainer. She loves going for walks and car rides, but she is just as happy snuggling beside someone on the sofa, chewing on a bone, or rolling over for a belly rub. Maggie is still young enough to enjoy playing, but she has a wonderfully calm nature. She has done well with dogs, children, and everyone she meets, and her rescuers believe she could also do well with cats. Whether her future is with a family or someone looking for a gentle companion to share quieter days with, Maggie has so much love to give. In fact, one of her biggest "faults" is simply wanting too much affection. Maggie will stand up and put her front paws on you when she wants attention. After everything she experienced before being rescued, she seems determined to make up for lost time when it comes to being loved. Now, Wags and Wiggles Dog Rescue is committed to seeing Maggie through the rest of her medical journey. Her heartworm treatment, ongoing UTI care, spay surgery, and related veterinary needs will give her the opportunity to leave her days of surviving as a stray behind for good. Our sweet 8-year-old Sasha is at the veterinary hospital preparing for her second surgery. Sasha previously underwent surgery to remove a mass from her belly. Unfortunately, another mass has since grown rapidly in the same area and has now burst open. She needs another surgery with Dr. Campos at Pet Lovers Animal Clinic in Miami, Florida, to remove the mass and address the complications it has caused. Seeing her go through this has been heartbreaking, but Sasha is still eating, walking, playing, and showing us that she wants to keep fighting. As long as she has that fight in her, we want to give her every chance possible. Sasha's upcoming surgery and medical treatment are estimated at $1,568, including removal of the mass, biopsy, cultures, drains, medications, and continued care. In addition to the cost of this surgery, Sasha has already required previous veterinary care and will need continued care as she recovers. Mama Jackie and her tiny 6-week-old daughter, Jenna, arrived at a Texas shelter as strays on August 5. Just five days later, they were scheduled for euthanasia. They were terrified, severely matted, and desperately needed help. Jackie, only 2 years old, also had two old fractures in her front leg that could not be repaired. ShelterFree Rescue NY couldn't let these two die, and they refused to save one without the other. They tagged them just hours before their scheduled euthanasia and a volunteer drove them to a foster home more than two hours away. For the first time, Jackie and Jenna were safe. They were bathed, fed, loved, and given the medical care they had been missing. But their medical journey is far from over. Both are being treated for sarcoptic mange, a highly contagious condition that can even affect humans. Jackie is also battling an upper respiratory infection, and her injured front leg is causing her significant problems. She will need an amputation and spay to finally give her a chance at a comfortable life. Jenna is only six weeks old. She should be growing up carefree with her mother—not facing the aftermath of neglect and shelter euthanasia. They've already incurred veterinary expenses, and Jackie's upcoming surgeries will add significantly more. Karmella is her full name but we call her Karma for how she came into our lives… they say you can get anything at Walmart and it’s true! We got Karma from a lady who had her and her sister in a shopping cart! It was love at first sight! She is the sweetest girl and absolutely loves kids as you can see. We are requesting help for an emergency surgery bill for a broken front leg. We went to Compassionate Care in Manlius who were so nice and caring. We had x-rays done and the vet said her “growing” bone was luckily not affected, however, her leg was broken. They were going to put a splint, but the bones would not stay in place so surgery was recommended. Karmella is the sweetest dog, and loves the grandkids so much! She gets so excited when they come here and loves to play with them. Karma will hopefully be trained as an emotional support dog also. Her first trip was when she was only a few months old and she was so well behaved and calm. She loves to run and play fetch and visit with the chickens, turkeys and geese, but never harms any of them. I was recently injured at work and I am going through physical therapy. I am not making the same Income and since this was unexpected I am humbly asking for assistance. Since Karmella is still very young, it is important that she receive the surgery to set the bone properly.

I purchased Mookie from a breeder and she joined our family on October 5,2022. She is a goofy, girl who loves to play outside with her friends and is my emotional support baby, she lives car rides and going to Starbucks for a pup cup. Mookie is a die hard Red Sox fan hence her name (Mookie Betts) and loves to play ball, slide into home plate and get the win!! Mookie has been generally healthy up until this point when I noticed a lump on her head in front of her ear.. they did a biopsy and it came back as a mast cell tumor sadly boxers are prone to these. Mookie is just 4 years old and I can not in good faith just let this slide. She is scheduled for surgery on Monday August 17th and as of right now it appears to be a low grade tumor which is good news Mookie has been been rock through a traumatic experience with my son who is now disabled from a traumatic brain injury and is now blind. She is a fun loving girl who is always up for fun whether it be playing hide n seek with me or going outside to play with her many friends Having Mookie healthy is my main priority. It would mean the world to me and her for any help as I am a single parent of my disabled adult son and his sole provider. My heart would be shattered if I lost her especially since she is only a baby at 4

Kapten came into our lives 8 years ago. He's a Husky/Cattle Dog mix and has become an inseparable part of our family. I originally wanted a Pomsky, and the breeder wasn't honest about his breed, but I decided he'd be my dog anyway and completely fell in love with him. He might not have been the dog I wanted, but he's the dog I needed. He's the only pet in our household, and his favorite time is wh Kapten was recently diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism, caused by a benign tumor on his parathyroid gland, confirmed by ultrasound at Veterinary Specialty Center in Bannockburn, IL. This isn't a chronic condition we'll manage forever, it's a one-time surgery that can cure it completely. But left untreated, the elevated calcium it's causing puts him at real risk for kidney damage. Huskies a Kapten has the most striking eyes, one blue and one gold, and it's the first thing people notice about him. But what makes him special is how present he is with the people he loves. He's not the kind of dog who's happy just being in the room, he wants to be part of everything. Whether it's a walk around the neighborhood or a lazy afternoon on the couch, he's glued to our side. He's gentle, a littl We're new homeowners, just closed on our first home last year, and between the mortgage and unexpected family circumstances, we don't have $10k+ in reserve for a surgery like this. Nani and her babies found themselves in a Houston county shelter that is known to euthanize whole families due to lack of resources. Their time was up and Nani and all six of her babies were set to lose their lives together simply because there was nowhere for them to go and they had highly treatable medical issues. Nani would lie in the shelter kennel quietly while her puppies pile on top of her. When they would separated, she would whine and pull toward them, desperate to be close again in such a scary environment waiting for help to come, not knowing the end was near. Then Sunnyside Street Dogs Rescue stepped in. On the very same day Nani and her puppies were scheduled to be euthanized, Sunnyside Street Dogs committed to saving the entire family despite the high medical bills that come with saving young puppies. Seven lives walked out of the shelter instead of being lost that day. But getting them out was only the beginning. Nani arrived in rescue needing medical care of her own. She has flea dermatitis with thinning hair and developed an upper respiratory infection. She has started on antibiotics and will need continued veterinary monitoring and follow-up care. Her six puppies need care of their own. All six are underweight, with a body condition score of just 3 out of 9. Because their mom is battling a respiratory infection, the puppies must also be closely monitored for signs of illness. Saving seven dogs at once comes with significant veterinary expenses. Sunnyside Street Dogs is raising at least $2,000 to give this entire family the medical care they need: \- $200 — Nani’s spay - $900 — Spay/neuter surgeries for all six puppies - $450 — Vaccinations and deworming for the six puppies - $350 — Veterinary visits and medications for Nani’s URI - $100 — Follow-up appointments and rechecks These are estimates and aren’t optional expenses. They are the care Nani and her puppies need to become healthy, recover from everything they’ve endured, and eventually be ready for loving homes. Matti Gave Her Whole Life to People Who Threw Her Away. Now It’s Her Turn to Be Saved

Matti is an elderly Mastiff believed to be at least 12–13 years old. She was found wandering through a village, terrified and defensive. Animal control had to sedate her before she could be safely transported. It’s clear that Matti once belonged to someone. We believe she was used for breeding, producing litter after litter until she grew old and sick—then was discarded. When rescuers were finally able to examine her, they found a dog who had been severely neglected. Her coat was filthy and painfully matted, her claws severely overgrown, and she weighed just 84 pounds—about 22 pounds underweight. Matti was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, infected ears, painful eye discharge, cystitis, urinary stones, and sand in her bladder. But treating her has been incredibly difficult because she is terrified of people. She throws herself against her kennel gate whenever someone approaches. She now receives calming medication and is being transported to the veterinary clinic almost daily for treatment and monitoring. She is also on a special gastrointestinal diet. It would be easy to call Matti aggressive. But we see a frightened, hurting senior dog who may have spent her entire life being used and neglected. We aren't asking her to trust people overnight. We're simply giving her the patience, medical care, and kindness she should have received long ago. Matti has already given people more than enough. Now it's finally her turn to receive. Too young to leave his mom, Mighty Max was given away at just six weeks old. A week later, he was surrendered to Ramapo Bergen Animal Rescue in critical condition. Max is fighting for his life. He is extremely frail and weighs only 16 ounces. Max was hypoglycemic and dehydrated, in need of immediate 24-hour hospitalization and supportive care to stabilize him. He was crashing fast. With your support, Mighty Max can keep fighting and live up to his name. Please consider a donation to provide Max the intensive support he needs. At just a few weeks old, tiny pups like Max still need the nutrition, antibodies, security, and care their mother provides. Max is a painful reminder of the consequences of irresponsible breeding and sending puppies to homes before they are ready. Thankfully, this tiny fighter is holding on. Diagnostics will determine if Max is so frail from not receiving enough nutritional support or if an underlying medical condition contributed to his decline. At his tiny size, parasites or even missing just a few meals could quickly put him into crisis. For now, they are cautiously hopeful and giving Max everything he should have had from the beginning; proper nutrition, veterinary care, safety, and the chance to grow stronger.
