Bafang is a young Labrador retriever who came into my life as a puppy and quickly became my constant companion. We live together in a small apartment, and he is my only pet. His name, “Bafang,” means “eight directions,” chosen to reflect my hope that he would grow up safe, curious, and full of possibility. From the beginning, he has been gentle, affectionate, and deeply bonded to me. Bafang recently suffered a serious leg injury that requires surgical treatment. We are currently working with VEG Cambridge, under the care of Dr. Perry. This is an acute injury rather than a chronic condition, and surgery is necessary to relieve his pain and restore his mobility so he can recover and live a normal, active life. Bafang is an incredibly loving and expressive dog. He follows me from room to room, greets everyone with enthusiasm, and finds joy in simple things like carrying his favorite toy or watching the world outside the window. He is playful but gentle, sensitive to my emotions, and brings comfort simply by staying close. His presence has been a steady source of warmth and companionship. We adopted Minnie by a friend that knew someone was giving away puppies for a price. It was meant to be due to Minnie being the last puppy left. She's been a part of our lives for 7 years. Minnie has a little brother name Snuggs, he is 5 years old and he always have been protective of her and she taught him the rules as if he was her own. I chose her name Minnie because she was born so tiny and l We took Minnie to the VCA (Bakersfield Animal Hospital) on May 31, 2025 due to a bump on one of her breasts that popped. Unfortunately, the Vet believes it to be breast cancer but wants to do a biopsy to confirm. Unfortunately, we can't do the surgery, they have her on antibiotics to help keep it calm and prevent any infection until she can have the surgery. Minnie is the most sweetest thing you will ever meet, she's so smart, funny, and loves getting treats. Minnie is full of personality and if you saw her you would fall in love with her as much as we do. Minnie loves cuddling and hugging every time she sees family and friends, toys, and human food. Minnie brings a smile and joy to anyone's face and we can't get enough of her. I recently lost my job due to unfortunate health issues with my back, a mass and infection in my neck, Minnie's other owner is working, but due to some circumstances we are not able to afford it. I am fighting for more time with Minnie, who deserves to experience the world.

Minnow is a 4 year old Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) in Kawkawlin , MI, who needs $2,000 for Anal Gland Sac Surgical Removal.

Minnow came into our lives a few months after losing our German Shepherd of 13 years. Leery of taking another dog, a friend told us to give Minnow a try. As a pup, Minnow came from a crack house before being rescued and taken away from it. Her rescuers took her for two years but not long term. We gave her a chance and fell in love. Having her almost 2 years now, thinking of losing her is tragic. We are seeking financial assistance for Minnow's upcoming CT scan/pending surgery. Health issues started after anal gland infections. First vet consult put her on wrong antibiotic for infection, causing kidney/ liver counts to go high. A second vet opinion, found hard tumor in anal sac, causing infection. They put her on the right meds but tumor didn't shrink. The tumor must be surgical removed. Favorite treats are chicken and sweet potato bones. She can sit, stay, speak, roll over, and high five. She has athletic skills with her frisbee. During winter loves to eat and roll around in snow. She loves car rides, her smile is priceless. However, Minnow hates thunder and rain causing her anxiety. Special people are grandma and grandpa and four-legged friends Freddy and neighbor dog Arthur. Our financial situation does not allow us the ability to do what we need for Minnow. A combination of the current economy and four college student loans have kept things tight. We pray that we can keep Minnow for many years. She needs help and we would do anything for her.

Sparky

Sparky is a 7 year old Mix-Breed in Gobles, MI, who needs $600 for Diagnosis and Treatment for Injuries.

Sparky came to us in 2017 as the runt of his litter. He chose us and we have loved him since! He survived being hit by a car in 2020, and truly is a fighter! Yesterday he got in the middle of a dog fight and today has a large pocket of fluid covering the top of his head, and it’s moving down his neck. He is lethargic and not acting like himself. He is our baby and we are so worried about him! He was in a dog fight and has a large mass of fluid covering the top of his head, and traveling down his neck. He is lethargic and isn’t acting like himself. He also is missing more teeth and has some issues going on with his teeth/gums that. Needs to be addressed. We use Allegan Vet Clinic. Sparky is our spunky little guy! He doesn’t travel with us though, since he gets carsick easily. He sleeps with me nightly and follows me everywhere at home. He also loves his 10 and 11 year old human siblings who spoil him rotten. He is very special to us and we hope to have many years left with him. I am currently applying for early disability retirement, and have been out of work for 17 months. Finances are VERY limited at this time while I wait for benefits to be approved.

George

George is a 7-year-old Chihuahua in Kentwood, MI, who needs $2,000 for Luxating Patella and Torn ACL Surgery.

George was abandoned in an apartment after his previous owners moved out. He was taken to Kent County Animal Shelter and later pulled by Pet Tales Rescue. It was discovered that George not only has luxating patellas on both knees but also due to his poor diet that caused significant weight gain, George also has a torn ACL ligament in his left leg. His surgery for just his one leg will cost $3500.0 George is probably the easiest foster that I have had in my 15 years of rescue. George is very easy going, gets along great with the other 4 dogs in my house, including three other littles and a 70lb dog as well. George has to sleep under the blankets at night and has to be right up against you. He loves his fuzzy blankets. George is housebroken as well. George gets along with all the dogs. George does love his treats and his fuzzy blankets. George is just a very friendly little dog that makes a great pet for anyone. He does tilt his head to the side when you are talking to him that is so adorable. He also has picked up from my other dogs that every time I walk out to the kitchen I must be getting a treat for him and the other dogs. George was not taken very good care of and has had poor nutrition from his previous owners. This resulted in George being significantly overweight which caused his current health issues. George has luxating pattellas in both knees and a torn ACL in his left leg. His surgery for just his left leg alone will be $3500.00 We are a small non-profit pet rescue that has spent over $20,000 in major surgeries and sick pet emergencies since January 2023. This has caused Pet Tales has to go on a intake hold for any pets requiring any significant vet care.

Charlie

Charlie is a 10-year-old Havanese in Lansing , MI, who needs $905 for Oral surgery.

We adopted Charlie in 2012. After searching for weeks we found him on the internet and drove 4 hours to see him. On the way home we decided that his name should be Charles, or Charlie for short. The name just sounded right. It was rough in the beginning since he was so young. He missed his brothers and sisters. It wouldn't be long before he became a loving member of our family. From the moment we get home from work to the moment we are in bed Charlie is by our sides. He loves going on frequent walks and sniffing out neighborhood friends. He brings us his toys for us to throw or play tug o war with every night. When he is done playing he falls asleep on his toy and utters quiet occasional sleep barks. Finally at the end of the night he joins us on our bed for sleep. Charlie has always been a playful dog. He used to attend a doggy daycare and loved playing with others. His favorite friend was my parents dog Rosie. The would play until Rosie had enough! When she was up again he would poke her with his little nose until the games continued. In recent times Charlie has slowed down quite a bit, but is always up to play if provoked. He spends more time relaxing. Charlie is diabetic. Each day we must give him insulin to keep him alive. There have been many challenges as a side effect of the disease, like nor more treats or licking plates, but he has adjusted. The most recent problem is Charlie's teeth. The diabetes has ravaged his teeth and gums leaving him with a tooth needing to be pulled. If he doesn't have oral surgery soon it could become infected. We are asking assistance because this procedure is outside of our means. Over Charlie's life we have had two children to support and currently don't have the funds available to get past this hurdle.

Drax

Drax is a two-year-old Micro Bully dog in Albany, NY, who needs $2,000 for emergency surgery.

If you've ever been lucky enough to have a dog in your life -- you've probably also been unlucky enough to know sometimes they eat the weirdest things! And sometimes those strange things cause big trouble! That's exactly what happened to Samatha M. and her beloved, Drax. "Easter weekend of 2022 began with him throwing up for two days on and off," Samantha tells Waggle. She brought him to the veterinarian, and soon she got distressing news. "They informed me that his stomach was detached and something was blocking his small intestines," Samantha says. Drax had severe dehydration and needed emergency surgery. Samantha raced him to Pieper Veterinary hospital. It turns out Drax ate a tiny piece of rubber, and it plugged up his entire digestive system. If he didn't have it removed, he would have died. "After the procedure, Drax's medical bills totaled $7,467.51," Samantha says. "This was very difficult for me financially because I was not prepared to have these funds on hand." Samantha is frantically trying to raise the money to pay for Drax's care. She hopes other generous pet lovers (who may have even faced the same situation) will give to her campaign. There was no way she could not have saved Drax's life. "Drax has made the biggest impact in my life and has changed it for the better," Samantha says. "He is my entire heart and the piece that fits all my missing pieces in life. He is the dog my heart never knew it needed so desperately."

June Bug

3.5 years ago we were ready to add to our little fur family the cutest little soul. After finding June Bug, driving 8 hours round trip, and acquiring a speeding ticket she finally made it home to her forever home. This sassy and spunky little girl was just what our family needed to feel complete. June Bug has been the emotional support dog everyone needs. She’s so eager to make anyone feel better when they need a smile. This sweet little girl is the only pup allowed on the bed because she’s just that special. When she’s not lounging around in her favorite spots, she enjoys running her little heart out, making special trips to the beach, and getting her share of princess treatment. Her favorite past times are playing with her 4-legged siblings, Leo & Piggy, chasing her favorite kitties around the house, and ready to go on any adventure brought her way. Anything this little girl wants, she gets it because she’s that special. She’s such a daddy and mamas girl she holds the key to our hearts forever. On 2/15/24, June Bug had an unfortunate accident. She jumped off the bed, landing just right, causing her to be paralyzed from the waste down. After multiple vet visits it was confirmed our sweet little baby has stage 5 IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). Unfortunately she will never walk again using all 4 of her legs. The only option we have is to get this sweet baby in for surgery as soon as possible to prevent the disease from spreading further up her spine, potentially going to her brain. We are so heartbroken after trying everything we can to help her get back to her sweet self.

Rocky came into our lives 1.5 yrs ago. He was a friend's dog who they had rescued from the shelter, and they had gotten a cat, which he did not have a good relationship with. He was put outside and would jump their fence and come to my grandma's house, which is where I was living at the time. When I decided I was moving up north I asked if I could take him with me and they said yes. Rocky loves to sleep in bed with me or the kids, he does not really mind where if he is in a bed with you. He is a bed hog and I must fight for the covers. He LOVES to go on car rides, does not care where you are going if he gets to go with you. We also like to go on long hikes up here, when I have no one to go with me I know I always have him. And like most dogs he loves belly rubs, one thing he Rocky lives with 3 other dogs in the house, but I have to say his favorites are his 2-legged ones. He absolutely loves anyone that walks through the front door. He loves to talk to you, and when you're not paying attention or sometimes just because he wants all your attention, he puts his head in between your legs and looks at you. When it storms, I must make sure he is in the room with me as he f So we are guessing Rocky got his leg caught up in the fence and broke it. I took him in got X-rays and seen by the vet, but the surgery is more than I can afford right now. The surgery is going to cost $2000. I paid for the initial visit barely, but now I need help to pay for the surgery that it is going to take to fix his legs. He is our baby and my kids would be heartbroken if anything happened I am a single parent of 3 beautiful kids, with no finacncial support from their father. And of course, when it rains it pours, my vehicle’s suspension just went out on my way to work, and that was an expense I did not expect to have.
