I'm a lone mother who just left an abusive relationship which required me to relocate with my young daughter 4,000 miles. During the past year I lost my seizure alert dog of 8 years, and in January, had a grand Mal seizure. My neurologist helped me find a seizure dog prospect, and all of the training and work of his young 5 months has been going well, but costly. Nike is a member of our family. He has integrated well into our community, has bonded closely to me, is already showing signs of being a potential seizure alert dog, not just seizure response. Until now he was very healthy, and he's still a very happy boy, just in so much pain, and this will only get worse daily. I am a lone parent, so no support. Starting over after an extremely abusive relationship with epilepsy, each seizure being life threatening. Having him healthy will help one aspect of my life so I can be here for my 3 year old daughter. I am the only family she has. Treating veterinarian is Companion's Choice Animal Choice Animal Hospital (ccah.com), and he needs surgery ASAP at Kansas State University. Surgery estimate is 2500, to put pins in his rear leg bc his bone is growing further apart from his growth plate everyday. While he remains happy, he is in a LOT of pain. Unfortunately, service dogs are not cheap, and I just don't have the funds for surgery. He's a big goofball, and in typical Berner puppy fashion, growing so fast he is the clumsiest doggo around. Nike is already in tune with my moods and is great about keeping tabs on me, and my young daughter. He's the perfect Berner, friendly but aloof around strangers, and not much rattles him, making him a great service dog. He is medically necessary per my neurologist.

King came into our life after his older brother Buddy passed away from Parvo. He was 8 weeks old when he was flown from Michigan to Massachusetts to live with us. He has been a light and love in our lives. Two of three of my boys are on the spectrum and one has Adhd and King has been their companion King is a very loving 7 year old maltipoo he lives in this house with my three children and has quite a huge bond with all of us but especially my younger two boys. he is there companion while they struggle through the difficulties of autism and adhd. he loves to snuggle all and just be there for them all the time. King is so special because he is just a loving dog that always love to be on top of you laying snuggling but also loves to play and go out side for his walks to the park. He truly knows how to make you feel loved and special. He enjoyes being with his family and following his brothers around the house. King has had allergies for years now and a lot of itchy sensitive skin st times. Recently he was acting very off and sick. He then developed this lump the size of a peach pit and rapidly growing which has been recently diagosed as a Mast Cell Tumor with the possiblity of it being cancer. His veterinarian has requested he need surgery to remove and biopsy asap i am a full time working mom of three with a husband who is currently layed off work trying to get our fur baby the help he needs to live a happy and healthy life or end of life depending on the grade of tumor if it infact turns out to be cancer. my kids love king

We have been an active rescue family for many years. In 2014, one of our pack, Dukey, passed on and our "goodbye" went viral. Duke was magic and to continue his memory, every year on the day of his passing, I would find a black shelter dog to help find a soft place to land. In 2015, year one, this was Harley. He was to stay at our house for 1 night before his transfer to Canada but he never left. Harley was immediately adopted into our family and renamed Taco. He is a spunky, funny, loving, perfect addition to our household. Taco spent the last 8 years warming the beds, making sure no one ever had to nap alone, and keeping a watchful eye for any food that you might drop. We sometimes call him Burrito Supreme. Taco welcomes all guests into our home with a steady stream of tiny dog conversation. We enjoy spending our free time, to the family's dismay, singing. Taco has been known to say "I love you"! It's his best party trick. He is also well known for his deadly handsome smile and his bouncy strut with wagging tail. After a series of unusual events, a door was accidentally left open so the dogs had unsupervised access to food. Taco was carried to the yard by a younger dog like a toy. While the external damage was minor, Taco suffered laryngeal paralysis. He ended up in critical care at a veterinary hospital, where he received 24/7 care for over a week. Taco is part of our family. We didn't have pet insurance but I am pretty sure we will be looking into it after this. No one is prepared for a pet emergency of this expense. We have so far paid $11,200.00. And our current bill is $18,312. He should be coming home in 2 days!

Goofy was born shortly after midnight New Years Eve by my late dog Cookie. When her puppies were old enough to give away I went to a parking lot & within minutes I gave all of them away but no one wanted him. I decided to bring him home & it was the best thing I ever did. He is my best friend & I truly would be lost without him. His name came from his big ears when he was little. Goofy is what you would call booshie. This dog refuses to sleep nor sit on the floor. Doesn’t matter whee we go he has to be on the furniture like he’s a king lol! He also always has to have a squeaky toy so he can annoy mommy especially while I’m watching tv. Goofy is special because he knows how to make you feel loved. When you are sad he senses it. He senses everything and always knows when to comfort you. He comes over lays his head on your chest and puts his paw on you like he’s hugging you and it always makes you feel good. Goofy got attacked by a dog and they discovered that he may have cancer. He is being assessed to find out what is going on and how to treat it.. The doctors place is Woodlands Animal Cancer & Referral Center This is unexpected & I can’t afford the cost but he is my most favorite person in the world most important & I will be truly lost without him I am all alone & he’s all I got.

Pixie came into my nephew, Andrews life about 2 years ago. She was a rescue pup from TX who came to Colorado to find her forever home. She lives with Andrew at his 84 year old grandmothers house where the three of them keep each other company and watch over each other. Andrew stays in the basement and carries her up and down the stairs. Trying to keep her as quite as possible. Pixie is so smart, funny, just adorable. Andrew took a lot of time and effort training her and it paid off. My 84 year old mom adores her and says she understands English. Before her injuries Pixie enjoyed hiking, wading, and enjoying all the amazing activities that a lucky Colorado dog can enjoy. Andrew rarely goes anywhere without her. She comes to all our family events. When we ask to to do or not do something, she looks at us sideways and reluctantly does what we’ve asked. But if grandma asks her to do something, she does it. She patiently and calmly interacts with grandma and the 1 1/2 year baby in the family. She loves her stuffed animals. I’ve been around a lot of dogs being a former vet tech, she is one of the best ever. Pixie tore her L cranial cruciate ligament apx 5 weeks ago. She was diagnosed at the Denver Dumb Friends League clinic for low income folks called Solutions. They do not do ortho sx. She tore there R CCL apx 4 weeks ago. I (Aunt Katy) work in the veterinary field in sales. I was able to get her some Balto braces to make her more comfortable. Through all my contacts, I cannot find anyone to help. Andrew is living with his grandma, taking care of her, and delivering for Amazon part time. None of us are in a $ situation to help him/Pixie out. I am writing this for him because he is devastated and heartbroken seeing Pixie in such a state. She is Andrews everything.

Out of all his littermates, we locked eyes, connected & I said, “He’s the one.” A core memory: as a puppy, he jumped from a pet store cart to explore. That bold spirit is why I chose his Hawaiian name, Koa, meaning warrior, brave, bold, & fearless. Yet, my 11-year-old Pit Bull mix is incredibly sweet & gentle at home and with everyone else. He's been my silent healer through all my ups and downs. After discovering a drop in energy & appetite & lumps under his jaw, Koa was diagnosed with Stage IVb Multicentric Lymphoma at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital. My warrior is now in the fight of his life, starting his CHOP chemotherapy protocol and he's already responding well to his first treatment. With faith & determination, we'll do whatever it takes to continue to improve his quality of life. Silly, curious, & adventurous, Koa loves the outdoors, tug-o-war, & open window car rides. He’s incredibly friendly, greeting neighbors, dogs, and ecstatic when my sisters & his dog-cousin visit! Off-leash, he always looks back for me. My loyal shadow, he gently takes treats, loves chest rubs, lounges with dad, & keeps us warm in winter. Koa loves everyone & is deeply loved by everyone he meets. Between supporting my parents & an insurance waiting period diagnosis, Koa's $10k medical bills exceed my savings. We were awarded a $2k Compassionate Care Fund grant, but still need help! He is the heart of our home; seeing my warrior full of life means everything to us.

My girlfriend and I found Marty eating dandelions hobbling down an Oklahoma City street. I took him in, cleaned him up and took him to the vet. A month later, we have failed to find an owner and he has stolen our hearts, but we unfortunately do not have the money to get him the vet care he needs. Marty has dislocated his back leg (see x-ray in photos). He also has recently developed an ulcer on his right eye. Both his leg and his eye cause him pain as well as hinder his mobility and sight. He needs surgery for his leg that will sever the joint that has crashed into his pelvic bone, and medicated eyedrops to hopefully repair his eye. Marty's favorite thing to do is curl up in his bed and snooze. He is mellow and always along for the ride wherever we take him. I take him to work frequently. He naps at the side of my desk all day and often dreams, twitching and quietly barking under his breath. Marty has become my little shadow. When I found Marty, I wasn't financially ready to take on a dog, but I took him in because he deserves a chance. Fresh out of college, I don't have a salary that allows me to financially support him and I have already incurred some debt to get him what he needs.

Claus came into our life as a puppy, instantly becoming a piece of us we didn’t know we needed. He is our peace after dealing with everyone else’s worst days. He is the protector of our boys & their storm buddy. Suddenly, he got sick out of no where. While he hasn’t given up and we haven’t given up on him, treatment to get him better & home to us is becoming financially draining and a major issue. He is currently at Pet+ER in Cockeysville being treated for possible Leptospirosis as well as a potential tick borne disease. His bloodwork showed his kidney functions as double and his liver functions as nearly tripled. He’s been hospitalized now for just over 24 hours being treated with IV fluids, 2 antibiotics, nausea medication as well as vitamin K. He is my wife’s guardian during her pregnancies, never leaving her side any time she’s within his site. He is my oldest’s comfort while struggling with severe ADHD & dyslexia. He is the protector of my youngest, constantly being at his side the moment he makes any noise. He is my solace after a rough shift, always being there for me the moment I walk in the door. This is an unexpected major crisis for us and we’ve already spent our emergency funds just to get his treatment started. The ER required us to give a deposit of the lowest estimate for his treatment, which was $4,000 but the bill is now over the highest limit of the estimate
