We rescued SoGnar from VSR in November of 2014. He has been living the life since! SoGnar has two doggie sisters and two human sisters. He loves to run around the yard, swim at the lake and chase wild rabbits. He’s a sucker for treats and cuddles. SoGnar loves to lay around and wait for us to drop some snacks his way. He loves to run around and rough house his sister Kona. He lets his smallest humans sister lay on his like a pillow and he follows his bigger human sister around her room. SoGnar has never been a huge toy dog but he’s so spinny, twirly and jumpy. He jumps straight up in the air and spins to catch treats mid air and plays fetch with his snacks. He will throw them from his mouth and chase them back down. SoGnar recently started panting and urinating excessively. I then notified his belly bloating up. We have gotten blood work done and are just waiting on those results. His vet is suspecting cushings disease but the testing is very costly. This is a very sudden onset of symptoms and expenses that we were unable to prepare for. Any help in getting SoGnar tested so we can start recommended treatment would be appreciated by us and SoGnar!

On July 21st, 2024 my mom breathed her last breath and I was left with a car and Smokey her dog. It is an emotional thing to see him hurting and in need of a life saving surgery. Smokey was my step fathers dog, and when he passed my mom had him to remind her of her late husband. Now I am doing the same and Smokey is what I have left living from my mom and step father. Smokey has an abscess in his mouth and needs a surgery I just can't afford. They told me he needs it immediately and I will need to get it right away. Right now Smokey is on pain meds and antibiotic, which ran out today. Smokey is now a part of my pack because his has passed away. As you can imagine Smokey now has us and we have him and we need each other. He has lost a lot and I just want him to be healthy and well to live a great life. When we took Smokey in it strained our income for sure since my husband is retired and living on SS and I am self employed. We need help getting Smokey the surgery he needs to save his life and we just don't have the finances to do it. Please help us.

“Chico” is our sweet little Min Pin fur baby. We added him to our family close to a month ago. He was born January 9, 2024 and is just recently 3 months old. While we have only had “Chico” for a very short time, we have found ourselves in an unforeseen situation, that not everyone expects or are prepared for. We have a completely fenced back yard with lots of running room for our Chico, and unfortunately while he was outside playing this past Sunday, he went running down our deck steps too quickly, and has 2 fractured elbows, needing surgery to repair Our Chico is absolutely precious and extremely loved by our family, especially our children. He absolutely LOVES to cuddle, and must always be cuddled in a blanket, or under one like his human siblings when he is sleeping. He loves to fetch already and loves all of his squeaker toys. While things in general are hard financially these days, this was totally unexpected and we do not have an emergency fund set aside that is enough to cover the cost of his necessary surgery.

Hi, my name is Sasha. I am an AKC registered Siberian Husky and I live with my mom and two kitties in Greenville, TX. I am 8yrs old and my mom is my best friend. She says when she first saw me when I was 11wks old, she had to have me because it was love at first sight! My mom and dad got divorced a few months ago so it has been a little sad at my house and money has been tight. Then I got hurt. Sasha was playing in the backyard and I am not sure what happened, but lost the ability to use her left back leg. She was in a lot of pain! A trip to Greenville Animal Hospital later, showed she has severed her CCL Ligament and the surgery to repair it is going to cost a little over $4k. Sasha, like most huskies, is a talker. She loves to have the last word in an argument...which she usually starts! She loves her kitty friends and she is fiercely loyal to her family. When my ex comes around, you would think he was military personnel who had to leave their pet behind, she is so happy to see him. Her favorite food is french fries and you better not get in her way when she sees them! I have a few things going on. I am a caretaker for my disabled dad and daughter, who is chronically ill. I am recently divorced and I have been trying to buy a house, which isn't going well. Sasha's injury is icing on the financial mountain cake.

I purchased Figment a little over 9 years ago from a very shady back yard breeder. She has been my “Velcro dog” ever since. I have another dog in the home and they are best friends. I named her Figment after the ride at Disney World. I am in need of help with a bladder surgery for Figment. She has a stone that is taking up at least 90% of her bladder. She was seen by a vet at Savannah Animal Hospital in Lewes, DE. Without this surgery she will remain in constant pain and have a chronic bladder infection. Figment loves anyone she meets and really loves her doggie sister Banshee. Figment loves her wubbie toys and almost always has one by her. She gives her family hugs and kisses daily, even when she’s not feeling the greatest. I have been on disability since 2006 and unable to work. I have had issues with my pancreas since age 16. For Figment to be back to her spunky self again, not in pain would mean the world to me.

Sometimes the smallest companions make the biggest difference. Specks, a Corgi and Heeler mix and the runt of his litter, came into my life to help with depression and anxiety. In just 6 weeks, his love and companionship have made a meaningful difference. Living with family, he brings joy every day, and his spotted coat inspired his perfect name: Specks. My puppy, Specks, is facing a possible liver shunt. His ammonia and bile acid levels are dangerously high, and he's had recurring episodes of blood in his urine requiring antibiotics. He's on a special prescription liver diet, and the next step is a CT scan and ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis and determine if he will need surgery or lifelong treatment. Specks is more than a puppy, he's my best friend and emotional support during a very difficult chapter of my life. When depression and anxiety made even simple days feel overwhelming, he brought light back into my world. Watching him fight through his medical challenges with such a happy spirit breaks my heart. He deserves every chance to live a long, healthy life, and i will never stop fighting. Specks brought light back into my life when I needed it most. This tiny Chihuahua's story began in the middle of winter, when a call came in about a little dog who had been hit by a car on a busy highway. Somehow, despite her injuries, she just kept going. A friend of Friends for Life Animal Rescue in Texas rushed to find her and get her to a veterinarian. The vet took her in, treated her, and cared for her as she slowly recovered. He told them he believed she would walk again—and after months of love, patience, and plenty of TLC, she did. This little girl fought incredibly hard, and every step she took made it all worth it. When they finally felt she was ready for the next chapter, they took her in to be spayed. That's when they discovered she was heartworm positive, and she has a hernia that will need to be repaired when she undergoes her spay surgery. She's already received her first heartworm treatment injection, with two more injections scheduled in three weeks. Once she's fully recovered, she'll need her spay and hernia repair. Now Friends for Life Animal Rescue is facing the cost of her heartworm treatment and upcoming surgeries. They're asking for your help to give this little survivor the happy ending she deserves.
