Meet Dante — a beautiful black cat with bright green eyes and a tiny white tuft on his chest. For nearly ten years, his heart has quietly belonged to one person: his foster mom. Dante was found on the streets of South Florida back in 2015 at just 10 weeks old. Everyone assumed a kitten this beautiful would be adopted quickly. But adoption events were overwhelming for him. They were too loud, chaotic, and filled with barking dogs. While other kittens wanted attention, Dante stayed close to his kitty friend Lily, still stressed. Both time and events passed. Then the rescue stopped hosting cat events altogether. Dante became a long-term foster. Over the years, Dante developed stomatitis, a painful inflammatory condition that makes eating difficult and daily life uncomfortable. He has already undergone dental procedures, but some diseased teeth remain and now need to be removed so he can finally have lasting relief. Recently, his foster mom noticed changes: Dante stopped eating his regular food, became quieter, and didn’t sleep beside her for the first time in years. An exam confirmed inflamed gums and retained teeth that should have been extracted. Because Dante is extremely stressed at the vet, the safest plan is to sedate him and proceed with a full dental procedure to address the source of his pain. Despite everything, Dante is sweet as ever. He sleeps beside his foster mom each night, follows her from room to room, and keeps watch over the person he trusts most. His foster mom currently cares for five medically complex cats. Managing their medications, vet visits, and daily care is emotionally and financially overwhelming. Adopt a Grown Cat is raising funds to cover Dante’s dental surgery and ongoing care. Donations will help provide: • Sedation and full dental treatment • Necessary extractions • Pain management and medications • Monitoring for his cysts and stomatitis Every dollar helps give Dante comfort and stability. He may still be waiting for his forever home, but together we can make sure he doesn’t have to live in pain while he waits. If you’re able to donate or share Dante’s story, it truly helps. Thank you for being part of his care. 3/19/26 Update We’re so relieved to share that Dante has officially had his much-needed dental procedure. After living with the pain of stomatitis and diseased teeth, this was a critical step toward giving him the comfort he deserves. And we already have a small but meaningful win — Dante ate on his own for the first time last night. For a cat recovering from dental extractions, this is _huge_. It shows that he wants to eat, that his spirit is still strong, and that he’s starting to move in the right direction. He’s still healing and not quite back to himself yet. He wants his treats but is having a hard time eating them, which is expected as his mouth recovers. He’s a bit quieter than usual, but we know he’s trying — and that gives us so much hope. Right now, Dante needs time, pain management, and continued care as his body heals from years of discomfort. This surgery was life-changing for him… but it also came with a significant cost. As a small rescue caring for multiple medically complex cats, this large vet bill is a heavy burden. If you’re able to donate, every dollar truly makes a difference in helping us continue to say “yes” to cats like Dante who have nowhere else to go. Thank you for being part of his journey and giving him a chance to finally live without pain. 6/16/26 Update We are so happy to share that Dante is continuing to heal beautifully following his dental procedure. After years of living with the painful effects of stomatitis and diseased teeth, Dante finally received the care he desperately needed. For a cat who spent so much of his life quietly enduring discomfort, this surgery has been truly life-changing. The first signs of progress came quickly. Just hours after his procedure, Dante ate on his own — a small but powerful reminder of how resilient he is and how much better he was already beginning to feel. Since then, Dante has continued to improve each day. As his mouth heals, he is returning to the routines he loves most: staying close to his foster mom, following her from room to room, and curling up beside her at night. Seeing him more comfortable and content has been the greatest gift. Because of your generosity, Dante received the dental treatment, extractions, pain management, and follow-up care he needed to finally find relief after years of chronic pain. On behalf of Dante, his devoted foster mom, and everyone at Adopt a Grown Cat, thank you for making this possible. Your donations eased the financial burden of his medical care and ensured that this special boy could receive the treatment he deserved. Thank you for being part of Dante's journey.
