Hogan didn’t show up at a shelter. He didn’t collapse in someone’s yard. He walked into a local firehouse and collapsed—exhausted, emaciated, and alone. Animal control rushed him to the animal hospital of Animal Kingdom Rescue, where he was immediately given emergency care. He was weak, vomiting, and suffering from severe diarrhea. And sadly, no one came to claim him. Extensive bloodwork with repeated follow-ups and a comprehensive diarrhea panel revealed the cause of his suffering had been a liver shunt, which is a life-threatening condition that requires surgery to correct. Without it, his body can’t function properly—and his condition will only worsen. He’s just one year old. One year of fighting to survive. One year without the love and security every dog deserves.
