Mr. Ed chose his people - and he made a good choice! The luxury of a warm place to sleep, good food and loving hands to make him feel comfortable and loved. His life as a stray had ended, but he had no idea that his people were struggling financially but were giving him the best of what they could afford. He settled in to his new life interacting with family members and rewarding their affectionate advances with purrs, head butting and loving the warm laps that they offered. All the fears and insecurities from his past life on the street were washed away with his newfound feelings of belonging and well-being. Mr. Ed is the kind of cat that everyone wishes for - a playful personality in spite of his unknown background, a loving personality that makes it very easy to accept him into the family and a loyalty that became very apparent very quickly. However, his life on the riverbank still occasionally lured him from home to hunt the little rodents that had made up his diet in his previous life. And then disaster struck - no one knows exactly what happened and Mr. Ed can't tell us, but after missing for a few days he came home with a terrible injury, possibly a leg trap had caught his front leg! An emergency veterinary visit revealed that amputation was the only option, where they performed the surgery and sent Mr. Ed home as a tripod. The financial burden is huge to a family that is living in a travel trailer so I stepped in to save a life. I am part of a rescue organization, Animal Rescue Group of Northern Nevada, but they are a small entity and contributed $200 to the total bill of $900.17.
