Left at the Vet's Office: Don't Give Up on Ragnar

Ashtabula, OH • Ashtabula County Animal Protective League

Meet Ragnar. This sweet boy was dropped off at a local veterinarian's office. Upon noticing his condition was severe, the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League (ACAPL) was notified, and they were able to send their Humane Agent to the scene to begin investigating about how Ragnar came to be in such terrible shape. Since this is an active investigation, the rescue cannot share too many details yet; however, Ragnar is currently at an emergency vet receiving proper treatment and care. On Friday, June 6th, Ragnar was rushed to the emergency vet given his serious medical condition. They weren't sure if he was going to make it through the night, but were told that the clinic would do everything they could to save him. This life-saving medical attention came at no small cost to the rescue. The bill is about $7,000, but they couldn't let this boy down. The staff at the emergency vet told the caretakers of ACAPL that Ragnar is incredibly sweet. He was so hungry, given his emaciated condition, they can speculate he might not have been given much to eat in his former life. Even though he's still in severe medical condition, he gives the staff love and stumbles to the front of his holding crate to ask for attention whenever anyone comes by. ACAPL is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and currently has over 200 animals in their care. A good amount of them require extensive veterinary care that is spreading the rescue thin of their emergency funds. They are asking for your help to give Ragnar the best treatment possible, and hopefully soon, help him find his forever home. Will you show that he's not worth giving up on? Your donation today will help ACAPL save the life of Ragnar, among many other animals. Thank you! 4/21/26 Update Thank you to everyone who supported Ragnar on his healing journey. Because of you, he received the best medical care, was able to heal, and is receiving lots of love. We are so grateful!
