Doria
Doria is a 3 month old Mix-Breed in Ewing, NJ, who needs $2,000 for Panleukopenia ICU Care.
Ewing, NJ • EASEL Animal Rescue
Doria first came to us from a high-volume shelter in Trenton, NJ, along with her three other siblings. They were supposed to be safe. They were supposed to have a future. But soon after arriving in her foster home, everything took a turn for the worst. First, Doria's sister fell ill. Her tiny body became weak, and she was rushed to the ICU. Just as we began to see her stabilize, Doria collapsed. We can't describe the heartbreak we felt when doctors finally gave us the diagnosis - both sisters had Panleukopenia. Doria is now fighting for her life at BluePearl Pet Hospital, completely dependent on the medical team to keep her going. Doria has an NG tube placed, is receiving plasma transfusions, and is being treated with multiple medications to combat infection and sepsis. The hospital staff describes Doria and her sister as absolute rays of light—sweet, affectionate, and full of love despite how horribly they feel. They were failed long before they got to us. They likely contracted this virus from the home they were surrendered from, a place where they should have been given basic medical care, where a simple vaccine could have saved them from this nightmare. We cannot continue her hospitalization without financial support. Her medical bills are mounting by the day, but without intensive care, she will not survive. Doria is fighting every second to live. She refuses to give up. Every dollar gives her another chance.

Fern
Fern is a 4-year-old Domestic Short Hair Cat in Ewing, NJ, who needs $1,990 for Inner Ear Mass Removal with Otoscopy and Biopsy.
Ewing, NJ • EASEL Animal Rescue
Fern is a 4-year-old tabby kitty who was brought to ACCT Philly pregnant and was later transferred to EASEL Animal Rescue. EASEL vowed to find this sweet girl a good home. Fern spent 2 months with a foster family and another 2 months at the shelter before finding a forever home with her new mom, Rebecca and Rebecca's 3 children. The family kept her name because it suits her quite well! Fern settled in well at home and chooses a different location in the house each week as her favorite. She has been a wonderful addition to the family. She comes running whenever her humans come home. Rebecca's son and daughter adore Fern too, giving her lots of cuddles. Fern especially loves to stretch out on her cozy bed while receiving some heavenly scratches on her white belly. Fern likes to be where the action is and settles down for a nap wherever the people are. She likes to sit by the window to the backyard in the morning — "watching tv" since she’s got an eye on all the squirrels out there. She has the funniest meow — it sounds more like chirping! Fern loves to chase and bat around crumpled pieces of paper and toy mice. She’d make quite a soccer player! Sadly, Fern has had an ongoing head tilt issue with persistent ear infections, as well as congestion and eye discharge. She was referred to Blue Pearl for consultation and they recommended surgery to remove a suspected polyp deep in her right ear. A CT scan will be done first to visualize her middle and inner ear. Fern's ear infections torment her. Steroids made her sleepy, unlike her usual playful self. Giving her ear drops was hard. Anticipating the medicine, she became nervous to be approached. Surgery promises to restore her quality of life, but is beyond the family's means.

Jack
Jack is a two-year-old Terrier in Ewing, NJ, who needs $1,213 for urgent eye surgery.
Ewing, NJ • EASEL Animal Rescue
Jack is an almost two year old handsome mixed breed boy that was born in the care of EASEL Animal Rescue. His mom was a petite and friendly gal who, (surprise!) was pregnant so she was placed in foster to deliver her puppies. Jack was the tiniest of the litter, and before his eyes were even open he developed an infection that caused scarring on his eye. At the time of Jack's adoption his eye did not need to be removed, but it was clear that would happen in the future. As time went on Jack enjoyed countless adventures with his human, Dana, and older fur brothers Rocco and Albie. Despite having this issue he was able to grow up big and strong and did not let his disability hinder him. But as predicted his eye became worse and needed surgery. Jack is a road warrior and loves to ride in the car and go to the beach. He's very talented at opening gifts. But his eye needed to be dealt with so he could keep on having fun. After numerous conversations with the family vet Jack was scheduled at one of EASEL's partner vet hospitals to have eye removal surgery performed in late June and everything had gone relatively well. Unfortunately after a few days, Jack developed an infection which needed to be addressed. He had developed a fever earlier that morning it was urgent that services were sought out for resolution. He was sent to Crown Veterinary Specialists by his owner, Dana, where he received medications and his incision was reopened and flushed. Jack is back on the road to recovery, fortunately. Most adopters have the ability to pay for routine care, and cover some emergency costs. Things are getting tighter and tighter, so it's tough to get every bill paid. Your donation towards Jack's vet care is greatly appreciated!

Blaine
Blaine is a Domestic Short Hair Kitten in Ewing, NJ, who needs $1,990 for FHO surgery.
Ewing, NJ • EASEL Animal Rescue
Blaine's journey started 5 months ago, when he boarded a van to come to our rescue as part of a group transferred from a high volume shelter about 160 miles away. His chances of finding a forever home were much better with us than in his old shelter. At the end of his ride, Blaine found himself fighting a serious virus and limping around his cage. Now at 9 months old he needs surgery. Blaine not just any kitten. He's already survived a terrible virus with a very high fever, and a unique surgery at 4 months old that made his legs even sized. Before that surgery his knees were very swollen and his foster mom, Beth, said he had a hard time running and playing with other kittens. Afterwards, Blaine quickly started attacking feather toys and pouncing on his house mates! Clarice, Blaine's current foster guardian, says he's a real purr machine who's always on for adventures. Plus, Blaine is big into computer games: he's got all the right moves! You can find him at his iPad in the afternoon, thinking, hunting, stalking...but then he's ready for a nap. How can you not love that little boy who is crazy about his game apps? Blaine has a hip problem, where his legs don't fit correctly into the hip socket. He needs FHO surgery to give him the ability to walk pain-free and to prevent future damage or inflammation. The vet (Dr. Roxane Collins at AnimERge in Raritan, NJ) says Blaine is a great candidate for surgery and doing it at this age is the way to go to be sure he has a good recovery and no future damage. EASEL Animal Rescue is a 501c(3) whose volunteers and staff dedicate themselves to helping over 1000 cats and dogs find good homes every year. We need donors to help support us, so Blaine can get the surgery he needs and live in a wonderful furever home.
