Our rescue assisted in shutting down a puppy mill back in June 2022. Five of the 28 adult dogs we took in were pregnant. Bear was born a runt of a litter of 10. The mother dogs were bred so many times they couldnt feed their offspring past two weeks. Bear was in a foster home with a sibling whom had already been adopted out. The adopter wanted to adopt Bear as well. Bear lived country side with her fur sister, Single dad, and 2 middle school aged childern. She also was growing up with a house cat and a barn cat. She loves everyone human and animal. She loves to run and tumble with her fur sister or follow her human siblings about the yard. She loves the out doors. Bear is exactly that. She looks like a stuffed teddy bear. She loves to tackle her fur siblings. Her spunk and will to live is amazing. She was bottle fed since 2 weeks old and being the runt of the litter there were days that we didnt see Bear thrive, however an over night stay with the vet made her a whole near Bear. She was always ready to prove she was not the little kid on the block. Bear escaped her yard and was hit by a car. The driver did not stop. Her foster heard it all as he was trying to get to her. Bear was rushed to the veterinary hospital to be treated. Some may have euthanized her but we were not ready to give up. Bear suffered a fractured pelvis and has remained on best rest the past 5 weeks. Our rescue is very small and self funded. We received minimal donations during the puppy mill closure and funded 28 adult dogs and 27 puppies. We were still trying to recover from that when we received a call from the west coast needing assistance to transport some dogs.
