Pops was found as a stray and taken to the shelter that we rescued him from in southern Illinois so we don't know what his life was like before he was picked up. He was a shelter favorite! We couldn't resist his sweet personality that shows through his face. He is now living in one of our foster homes, who take care of him like a part of their family. Pops lives with one of our foster families, who is making sure that he is loved and treated like a family member while we wait for surgery and will make sure that he successfully recovers once he has been treated. He loves to play in the yard, snuggle with the family, and play. Due to his condition, he has trouble playing and moving around, which will be corrected with surgery. It would mean the world to us to have Pops treated so he can live a long and happy life. Treatment will save his life and make him adoptable. The combination of issues that Pops is experiencing are cost prohibitive to many great families! Pops is a 10 -12 month old Mastiff that already weighs 90 lbs and was diagnosed with a luxating patella AND a torn ACL in his rear, right leg. This requires surgical intervention. Treatment of this condition is especially important for giant breed dogs due to the weight that they will put on the joint over their lifetime. Surgical treatment has a near 100% success rate. He was a shelter favorite during his stay due to his friendly disposition and easy-going nature. We took him into rescue where he is relaxing in his foster home while he waits for surgery. We are equally impressed with his sweet disposition and obedience at such a young age! This guy deserves to have his leg fixed so he can live the long, happy, and capable life that he deserves!
