Duncan was rescued from a breeding situation where he suffered extreme lack of care and proper nutrition. He has nerve damage on his spine that must be fixed to help him achieve true health. You see he cant feel himself poo or pee. He doesn't know it happened and he cannot go home until we fix this as he will never be successful when he has no control on when and where he goes potty. Our vet believes he suffered a traumatic injury at some point due to his previous living situation. He may have been hit by a car, or attacked by another dog, we simply do not know. Heartland Veterinary Hospital is the vet who diagnosed him and he needs to see a specialist in St Louis for the next step. We were given an estimated cost of over five thousand dollars just to start. Duncan is a happy boy who while his life was less than loving before he came into our rescue, he is friendly, playful and wants to please. Until his medical needs have been met he has a huge obstacle in front of him that will prevent him from finding a loving home. As a rescue whose very existence depends on the kindness of others we simply do not have in our budget the funds needed to give him the life he deserves, which is one of health and happiness in a loving home.
