Spencer and Blue’s Road Back to Comfort

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

Imagine knowing nothing but love, safety, and security your en tire life, only to have it suddenly taken away. This is what happened to Spencer and Blue when their owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for them. Sadly, based on the condition they were found in, it’s likely these little pups had been struggling for some time. When Kanoa Rescue stepped in, the reality of their health was heartbreaking. Spencer was suffering from two ruptured corneas and a mass behind one eye that pushed it out of its socket. There was no way to save either eye, and both had to be removed. Spencer is now blind and learning how to navigate the world in an entirely new way. On top of that, he had already lost half of his teeth, and the remaining ones had to be extracted due to severe dental disease. Blue’s condition is equally concerning. He has been rapidly losing weight and cannot keep food down, experiencing chronic vomiting and diarrhea. Initial imaging suggested a possible obstruction in his stomach, but an exploratory surgery revealed no foreign object. More testing is now needed to determine the cause of his ongoing GI distress and get him stable. The road ahead will not be easy, but we are committed to helping Spencer and Blue heal. With your support, we can provide the medical care they need and give them the chance at long, comfortable lives in a loving home!

Help This Brave Pup Heal—Andarna Needs Us Now

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

At just four months old, Andarna has already survived what no puppy should ever endure. She was living on the streets with her mom and siblings when tragedy struck not once, but twice. A car claimed the life of one sibling, and then hit Andarna too. Against all odds, she survived. Bruised, broken, and terrified, she had no idea that help was finally on the way. Thanks to a fellow rescuer and a kindhearted foster who made space just in time, Andarna is now safe with Kanoa Rescue Foundation. She's still scared and unsure. She doesn’t yet realize the worst is over. But what she does know is pain. Her injuries are severe, and her femoral head fracture will require an FHO surgery to restore her comfort and mobility. This critical surgery costs is expensive, and we simply can’t move forward without raising the funds. Andarna is currently on pain medication and antibiotics, but that is only a temporary measure. We need your help to give this brave girl the future she deserves. Every single donation brings her one step closer to healing and one step away from the trauma she’s already endured. Andarna has made it off the street. Now she needs us to get her back on her feet. If you can, please consider donating. Healing takes time, but with your support, she won’t face it alone. 07/09/25 I think it’s safe to say Andarna is enjoying the spoiled life! She is still on kennel rest from her FHO surgery & is healing up nicely! She’ll start her physical therapy & activity schedule this Friday. She’ll has already started baring more weight on her leg, we’re beyond proud of her 🤩🥳 We can not thank our community enough for all of their gracious support for her. YOU make a difference each time you donate. THANK YOU!

Sage's Journey From Setbacks to Strength

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

Two year old Sage has already been through more than most. At just 10 months old, she was rescued from the shelter, unexpectedly gave birth to a premature puppy, and has been living with a painful leg condition ever since. She needs surgery for a luxating patella, but just as funds were being raised, a new challenge appeared. Recently, Sage suffered a seizure and had to be rushed to the vet. Bloodwork ruled out major concerns, and while her liver enzymes were slightly elevated, the vet said this is normal post-seizure. The best news: the episode won’t affect her ability to get leg surgery when she needs it. Now it’s all about rest and monitoring. Through it all, Sage remains gentle, affectionate, and full of spirit. She continues to struggle with her injured leg, and without surgery, her mobility and long-term comfort are at risk. Unfortunately, part of her surgery fund had to be used for the unexpected seizure care she urgently needed. Sage still needs help. Donations will go directly toward her emergency vet visit and her much-needed leg surgery. Every gift brings her closer to a pain-free future. With your support, Sage can finally walk, run, and rest easy—just like every pup deserves. Update 07/02/25 Sage continues to be closely monitored as Kanoa Rescue and the vets come up with the best treatment plan moving forward. She has been doing well and her caretakers are hopeful it was just a one time thing. Thank you all for your continued support! Update 10/31/25 Sage is doing great and has healed up well. She’s had some swelling and doesn’t use the leg as much as they anticipated at this point but is using it more and more. She has received pain meds and meds for inflammation. Overall, she is doing great and hoping for her forever home soon.

Merida

Merida is a 11 year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $550 for Diabetes.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

Kanoa Rescue Foundation This little senior chorgi (chihuahua/corgi) was left to fend for herself in her backyard after her elderly owner, who was known to be in poor health, abandoned her and her sibling. Unfortunately, her sibling passed away before the local shelter knew about their situation. Merida, who was all alone, was taken to the shelter. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her. Precious little Merida went to the vet and was diagnosed with diabetes. She has started insulin and new prescription food, but she will need to go back to the vet weekly to get more glucose checks and adjust her insulin as needed. Merida has blossomed in her foster home and is in higher spirits. This sweet little chorgie just wants to live out her golden years in comfort and Kanoa Rescue is trying to give her just that! She loves sleeping and spending time with her foster mom and foster sibling who is a big ole German shepherd who just so good with her. Kanoa Rescue relies on donations, and they really need more funding to help with Merida's ongoing care! If you can help out at all, they would greatly appreciate it. Merida would appreciate it even more! This little girl deserves all the love, she has been through so much.

Pearl

Pearl is a 15 year old Chihuahua in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $400 for Dental, Malnutrition, and Eye Issues.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

Kanao Rescue Foundation Imagine being dumped as a senior, mostly blind, missing almost all your front teeth, and wandering a creek all alone. Pearl was found by a firefighter and taken to a local municipal. Unfortunately, the shelter is completely overwhelmed and is no place for a senior lady. She broke out with an upper respiratory infection and found herself on the euthanasia list due to age, illness, & medical needs. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue stepped in and took 15-year-old Pearl into their care. She had 10 teeth removed, and they are hoping the dental clears some of her other issues like her snotty nose & sneezing. She has been struggling with itchy, irritated skin, so she got an injection to hopefully help with that as well! Her eye has been able to clear up, and it's hopeful she won't need surgery. Kanoa Rescue absolutely loves this little senior girl and are beyond thankful they were able to save her from euthanasia. She will most likely not last many more months, meaning she is in hospice, but they will spoil her for the rest of her days! Her muscles have severely deteriorated, so Pearl is often carried around in her little sling- her favorite! She is a gentle girl who loves humans. Pearl will continue to need medical support to make her comfortable. Kanoa Rescue relies on donations to help the animals in their care, and could use a little extra funding if anyone can help. Every bit of support makes a difference to Pearl. Thank you!

Mumford

Mumford is a two-month-old Sphynx kitten in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $2,000 for urgent care.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

* Kanoa Rescue Foundation * Mumford's case is heartbreaking and likely resulted from this rare cat breed being overbred by humans. The Sphynx kitten is only two months old and can barely walk. He crawls on the ground to move. Mumford's situation is dire. The Kanoa Rescue Foundation rushed him to an animal hospital, where his veterinary team discovered critical medical problems that need urgent care. "This little kitten is not growing and developing at the correct rate," Krystal C., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "His legs do not function properly, and it is suspected his hips are not placed correctly. Both issues are likely a result of poor genetics." Then the rescue got more bad news! "It is suspected he has a misplaced bladder, warranting the need for his caretakers to help him express it regularly," Krystal says. "He has a prolapsed rectum causing him discomfort. Both are contributing to dehydration and a very swollen belly. Mumford is also battling an upper respiratory infection that is threatening to turn into pneumonia." Poor Mumford is so young and facing so much. But after multiple tests, the rescue says the kitten may have a fighting chance! Despite his young age and the severity of his condition, there is still hope for Mumford. The rescue is determined to correct his health issues and set him on a path to recovery. However, his medical bills are mounting. Your support is crucial in ensuring Mumford's ongoing veterinary treatment. Please give so Mumford has a chance at survival! Update 8/13 Our handsome little Mumsie is growing up (slowly & at a stunted pace but he’s growing!). He has made so many improvements & is enjoying all the spoils in his foster home. He has been receiving TLC (literally around the clock ). He’s drinking water, eating, going to the litter box more, and his muscles are strengthening. We’re keeping things slow & steady with him, no rush on his development for us. We just want him to be happy & healthy.

Adeline

Adeline is a 1.5 month old Mix-Breed in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $1,200 for Emergency Vet Stay and Testing.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

** Kanoa Rescue Foundation ** Adeline found herself in a high-kill overcrowded shelter as a 4-week-old baby. She was at risk of euthanasia simply due to space in the shelter. Kanoa Rescue Foundation found out about her situation, and stepped in to rescue her. Shortly after Adeline came into Kanoa Rescue, she had a very scary life-threatening incident. She started to crash, and all the signs seemed to point that she was going to pass. Thankfully, the wonderful Dr. Bays at Animal Wellness Center of OKC squeezed her and saved her. Her little veins were too small for even the smallest needles, so they had to put it in her back leg. After testing, all that showed up was that Adeline was mild anemic and slightly low blood sugar. Neither were severe enough to warrant her health scare. It is completely unknown why this happened. She had been eating normally, drinking, good body temp, all the good things you want to see in a kitten. What is known is that she is fine now and is already able to return home. She will be under heavy monitoring to be on the safe side. Adeline will undergo further testing to make sure she is well and to prevent any further scares. Little Adeline deserves a long happy life. This poor little kitten has now dodged death not just once but twice in just the short 5 weeks she has been alive. Please help Kanoa Rescue get testing done, so Adeline never has to face a life-threatening event ever again.

Ella

Ella is a one-month-old kitten in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $1,500 for emergency care.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

When the Kanoa Rescue Foundation learned a one-month-old kitten's life was on the line in an animal shelter, they wasted no time saving her. "This poor baby has sustained an injury where she lost most of her leg, and her femur is exposed," Krystal C., with the rescue, tells Waggle. The nonprofit group named her Ella and immediately got her to an animal hospital. Sadly, her leg was so mangled the limb could not be saved. She was rushed into emergency amputation surgery. Ella remains hospitalized and is fighting for her life. She is dehydrated, has low blood sugar, and needs to stay in the ER for constant care. "Despite all of her trauma and the extraordinary amount of pain she was in, Ella is a sweet and loving kitten," Krystal says. "She loves receiving attention and is even purring!" Ella has a long journey ahead and will need continued care while she gains strength. However, the outlook for her to have a happy and healthy life is positive. The rescue needs your help raising the money to pay for Ella's emergency hospital bills. As every pet parent knows, those can add up quickly. Please give to help Ella and the Kanoa Rescue Foundation!

Cake

Cake is a six-month-old Domestic Shorthair kitten in Oklahoma City, OK, who needs $2,000 for urgent surgery.

Oklahoma City, OK • Kanoa Rescue Foundation

Cake carved out a massive spot in the hearts of her animal rescuers at the Kanoa Rescue Foundation. "Cake was brought to our doorsteps by our neighborhood kids who told us, 'You can have her,'" Krystal C., with the rescue, tells Waggle. "They found her down the street and knew we ran an animal rescue. We took her in with open arms." The group adopted her out, but tragically, the adopters returned her to the rescue a month later after she was hit by a car! "We had no idea she would be able to gain access to the outdoors," Krystal says. Cake is now hospitalized. Her hip is dislocated, her lower spine is broken, and she has nerve damage. The nonprofit group is crushed this happened to Cake. They want her to get back to the spunky kitten they fell in love with. "Cake has a personality that shines through everything she does," Krystal says. "On average, she is a stage 5 clinger. As a foster kitten, she loved getting in the shower with us just to be held, even though she hated the water." She needs urgent surgery, and the rescue needs your help raising the money. "When unexpected tragedies occur like this, we scramble to find the thousands of dollars we need to create change," Krystal says. Please give to help Cake!
