When Make a Stand Bully Rescue was contacted about a pit bull puppy in central Texas, they knew they were looking at a little life who had endured far more suffering than any puppy ever should. Both of Fenix's back legs are broken, with one fracture significantly worse than the other. His body is covered in deep scarring and painful scabbing from prolonged, untreated mange. Now, his damaged skin is sloughing off in chunks, leaving raw, vulnerable areas exposed. He is bloody, bruised, broken, and in pain. And yet, despite everything this tiny puppy has endured, there is still hope. Before deciding whether surgery was truly the kindest option, his medical records were reviewed by three separate veterinarians at three different veterinary practices. They all came to the same conclusion: Fenix can recover. Surgical intervention can give this little puppy a chance at healing, growing, and eventually experiencing the life he should have had all along. So Make a Stand Bully Rescue made the decision to tag him and save his life. Then came the terrifying reality: they looked at their bank account and realized there was almost nothing left. They said yes to this puppy because he deserves a chance—even when they don't have the funds to make that chance easy. Now they need our help. His road to recovery will be long and expensive.
