Oreo
Oreo survived heartworm, but he still needs your help!
Salem, NH • Mary’s Dogs
This is three-year-old Oreo, a remarkably brave dog whose life has been a series of heartbreaks, miracles, and second chances. Oreo’s story begins in Houston, Texas, at BARC—one of the highest-kill shelters in the country. His owner had suffered a devastating tragedy: her home burned down. In the chaos and grief, the Red Cross advised her to temporarily place Oreo in the shelter until she could find stable housing. But when she returned to bring her boy home, she was told she had unknowingly signed a surrender form—and that Oreo was already scheduled for euthanasia. They refused to give him back. That same day, Mary's Dogs reached out to a rescue to save Oreo’s life. They tried over and over to find his owner, but they never could. So the rescue brought Oreo all the way to New England, hoping that if she went looking, she’d one day find him safe and loved. But Oreo’s challenges weren’t over. One terrible night, he spiked a dangerously high fever. He stopped eating, stopped drinking, and could barely lift his head. Mary carried him into the vet, and the news shattered her—Oreo was in heart failure. Tests revealed he was heartworm positive, and severely so. With intensive care, close monitoring, and sheer determination, Oreo slowly stabilized. After six long months of treatment, countless vet visits, and so many nights spent hoping he’d keep fighting… Oreo tested negative. He survived. Today, this miracle dog has been chosen by a wonderful family in upstate New Hampshire for a foster-to-adopt home. After everything he has endured, Oreo finally has the future he deserves—a warm, safe home filled with love. But Oreo’s journey came with enormous medical costs, travel expenses, and ongoing care that rescues like Mary's Dogs can only cover with help. Please if you can, any amount would help and no amount is too small. Thank you for your continued support.

Sergio
Abandoned on the Scorching Streets of Houston: Sergio Needs You
Salem, NH • Mary’s Dogs
Five-year-old Sergio has endured more hardship than any animal ever should. Abandoned by his previous owners on the scorching streets of Houston, TX, he was left to fend for himself with little chance of survival. But thanks to Mary from Mary’s Dogs, Sergio’s story didn’t end there. She found him just in time, giving him the care, love, and medical attention he so desperately needed. At the vet, they learned that Sergio suffers from a severe seizure disorder, which can be managed with daily medication. While it was a relief to know his condition is treatable, the ongoing cost of his medication is significant. As if that weren’t enough, Sergio also tested heartworm positive, another serious condition requiring long-term treatment, rest, and medication. Mary describes Sergio as “the dog every family dreams of.” He adores everyone he meets, especially kids, other dogs, and even the occasional pig! He’s gentle, affectionate, and always ready for a car ride or a trip to the vet, tail wagging the whole way. Now, Sergio needs your help to continue his recovery and manage his medical conditions. With your support, he can live the long, healthy, and happy life he deserves. Please consider donating today to help cover Sergio’s medication, heartworm treatment, and ongoing veterinary care. Together, we can ensure his story is one of hope, healing, and love.
