Barnaby is the most adorable and playful kitten. He was abandoned at a local park and brought to our shelter by a concerned neighbor. We named him Barnaby because he was so scruffy looking and his poor little face looked as if it were covered in barnacles. Currently, he is being kept in a safe and separate kennel until we are able to treat him for his ailments – among them, poor “intestinal mobility” which means he’s not moving his bowels as he should. Once we feed him well and medicate him correctly and we know he’s feeling and acting better, we will try and remove the medications and if that works, we will move him into a room with other kittens. Barnaby is a little love. He is very snuggly and loves to be held and also loves to cuddle up in his bed. He purrs endlessly, no matter how bad he feels and even when he’s having a medical treatment. He is also very playful and enjoys his favorite toys, especially a little spinning ball and his catnip toy. He will reach out and paw at your hand for a pet or to be playful. Barnaby’s intestinal condition could be chronic and we are hoping it is not. We believe this condition developed from poor nutrition, resulting in him not being able to defecate properly. When he came to us, his entire colon was impacted which turned into an emergency situation where he had to be deobstipated. The bill for Barnaby’s treatment is $2,262. We are seeking funding for this expense as we no longer have money available in our medical fund. We treat hundreds of animals each year and at this point, we’ve used our reserves and are hoping for help with this
