Toaster Crumb
After a 1,000-Mile Journey, Toaster Crumb Needs Your Help
Fort Walton Beach, FL • Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS)
Some cats dream of seeing the world. Toaster Crumb apparently decided to do it the hard way. Somewhere in Texas, this resourceful little stowaway quietly climbed into a family's U-Haul before they shut the door and began their move to Fort Walton Beach, Florida. They had no idea they had picked up an extra passenger. Imagine their surprise after the long drive when they rolled up the truck door and found a cat staring back at them. With no clue where he'd come from or how long he'd been hiding inside, they brought him to Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS) for help. Despite surviving an interstate road trip in the back of a moving truck, Toaster Crumb wasn't in perfect shape. He had two broken canine teeth and a treatable bacterial skin infection that gives his face a scorched appearance—earning him the fitting name "Toaster Crumb." The good news? His story is taking a much happier turn. Toaster Crumb is now safe in a loving foster home, receiving treatment and soaking up the care he deserves. Once he's healthy, this seasoned traveler will be ready to retire from his hitchhiking days and find the forever home he's been traveling toward all along. Before that can happen, Toaster Crumb needed extensive veterinary care. He recently underwent a dental procedure that included multiple tooth extractions, dental X-rays, a professional cleaning, and a full senior blood panel to ensure he was healthy enough for treatment. His medical care totaled nearly $600. Your donation will go to directly cover these unexpected veterinary expenses so Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS) can continue saying "yes" to cats like Toaster Crumb who arrive needing immediate care. Every gift, no matter the size, helps provide second chances for homeless cats with nowhere else to turn. Thank you for helping Toaster Crumb continue his journey toward the loving forever home he deserves. 8/12/26 Update: Toaster Crumb is Feeling More at Home Toaster Crumb has come such a long way since his unexpected journey from Texas! This handsome boy is settling beautifully into his foster home. He loves sleeping in his favorite spot on the couch or curling up on top of his favorite person, and he has absolutely no interest in going outside! His beautiful fur has also grown back in, although he is apparently making up for lost time by shedding like crazy. And he is always ready to try to steal your food the moment you look away! His face is still somewhat tender, but he continues to receive the care and medication he needs to keep him comfortable. Thankfully, he takes his medicine like a champ. Toaster Crumb's life has taken a much happier turn, but his veterinary expenses are still a burden for Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS). His dental procedure, X-rays, multiple tooth extractions, cleaning, and senior blood panel totaled nearly $600. Donations to Toaster Crumb's campaign will help SOCKS recover these unexpected veterinary expenses and continue providing care to cats who need a second chance. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you for continuing to support this sweet boy!

Terry
Terry Was Facing Euthanasia Until SOCKS Stepped In
Fort Walton Beach, FL • Save Our Cats and Kittens (SOCKS)
Terry’s tiny front leg never quite touched the ground. Twisted and permanently bent, it hovered awkwardly in the air as she struggled to hobble from place to place. Every step was difficult, yet somehow, this sweet girl never stopped purring. When Save Our Cats And Kittens (SOCKS) first heard about Terry, she was facing euthanasia at another organization because of her severe deformity. We couldn’t let her story end there. We welcomed Terry into our care and rushed her to the veterinarian, hoping there was a way to give her the comfortable life she deserved. After examining her, the veterinarian recommended amputating the malformed leg so Terry could finally move without pain and difficulty. It was the right decision — but also an expensive one for a small rescue like ours. Thankfully, Terry’s surgery went beautifully. Now, instead of struggling to balance on a useless limb, she’s recovering comfortably in foster care, showering everyone around her with nonstop purrs and affection. In fact, her foster mom has already fallen completely in love and plans to adopt Terry once she’s fully healed. For Terry, this is the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. But for rescues like ours, every medical emergency stretches our resources to the limit. Terry’s veterinary care totaled about $300. To many, that may not sound overwhelming, but for a small rescue juggling countless cats in need, every unexpected surgery, every emergency vet visit, and every bag of food adds up quickly. While we never hesitate to save a life, we rely on compassionate supporters to help us continue saying “yes” to cats like Terry. Today, we’re asking for your help. Your tax-deductible donation will help us recover the cost of Terry’s surgery and ensure we’re ready for the next vulnerable cat who has nowhere else to turn. Small rescues like ours do the same lifesaving work as large organizations — just with fewer resources and a much smaller safety net. Because of kindness like yours, Terry is no longer a cat discarded for being “imperfect.” She is safe. Loved. Healing. And finally headed toward the life she always deserved. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us and the cats who depend on us. With hope and gratitude, Save Our Cats And Kittens 5/20/26 Update: Terry has a new 3-legged sibling! Terry is done with all her vet visits. "She's doing very well and has integrated into our little family perfectly," her adopter said. "We feel very lucky to have her." Check out the picture with her new sibling, Casper, who also has three legs! They have a pretty comfy nature-watching area there.
