Kayla

Kayla is a 11-year-old Chiweenie in Olympia, WA, who needs $3,500 for for surgery to fix her CCL tear (like a human ACL tear).

Olympia, WA • Second Chance Dogs

Kayla came to our rescue as an owner surrender from a caring senior citizen who couldn't afford her care. It was discovered she had a torn CCL, untreated diabetes which led to blindness after entering foster care. She is so loved in foster care by her foster mom and other k9 siblings. It's so heartbreaking watching her bump into things. Kayla is adjusting to being a diabetic. She is so stoic having her blood sugars checked 2+ times a day and getting insulin injected twice a day. She loves to snuggle up under a blanket next to her foster mom for comfort and security. Losing her vision is sad and scary for her. She bumps into things and is always hungry from diabetes. Kayla is with Second Chance Dogs a rescue in McKenna WA. With covid 19 we are unable to do fundrsisers for her but her foster mom is determined to get her help. So here we are, please pray for her and help. Dupont Vet is Kaylas basic vet for care. They are going to be doing her CCL surgery but first we want her eyes addressed. She has an appt with an eye specialist June 1st. She may need eye surgery (Approx 3500). Her diabetes is basically under control with close monitoring. Her CCL surgery will cost $3500. Kayla has a chance at a long life. We want to help her. Kayla is such a sweet gentle soul. She is so sensitive when her foster mom cries despite her medical issues including going blind she is the first one to comfort and lick the tears. It makes me love her even more. Kayla has amazing spirits despite all that has changed in her life. Loss of her home, way she feels, diet, activity, pain from torn CCL, and most importantly, her vision.
