Zita

Her Babies Are Gone. Now Zita Is Fighting for Her Own Life.

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

🐾 South Carolina Community Cat Project Needs Your Help Zita has already endured more heartbreak than any cat should ever have to face. After losing every one of her kittens, this sweet mama cat should have been given the chance to grieve and begin healing. Instead, she is now facing a life-threatening medical emergency of her own. Zita was rushed to the emergency veterinarian after developing a dangerously high fever of 105°F. Bloodwork revealed her white blood cell count had skyrocketed to over 42,000, a sign that her body was battling a severe infection. Veterinarians quickly determined the likely cause: stump pyometra, a rare but life-threatening infection that can occur after a previous spay surgery. The infection has rapidly progressed to sepsis, and without immediate surgery, Zita has less than 24 hours to live. She is in surgery today, but this emergency came without warning. Her emergency examination, diagnostics, hospitalization, stabilization, and lifesaving surgery have already created overwhelming veterinary expenses for South Carolina Community Cat Project, and there are still additional costs ahead as she recovers. Will you help save Zita's life? Every tax-deductible donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward the emergency care she needs to survive. If you're unable to give today, sharing Zita's story could help connect her with someone who can. Zita's heartbreaking journey is also a reminder of just how dangerous pregnancy and reproduction can be for community cats. Although she was no longer pregnant when she came into rescue, the physical toll of motherhood and complications that followed have left her fighting for her life. Rescue teams see tragedies like this far too often, which is why spaying cats before these emergencies occur is so important. Zita has already lost her babies. Please don't let her lose her life too. Today, she is surrounded by a veterinary team doing everything they can to save her. With your support, we can give this resilient mama the chance to recover, heal, and finally experience the safe, healthy future she deserves.

A Painful Leg Shouldn't Define Her Future: Help Clover Walk Comfortably Again

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Clover is a sweet kitten with a bright future ahead of her—but first, she needs help leaving her pain behind. Recently, Clover was diagnosed with severe radial nerve damage in one of her front legs. After thorough veterinary evaluation, it was determined that the damage is permanent. The affected leg is no longer functional and cannot be repaired. While this diagnosis is heartbreaking, there is hope. Veterinarians have determined that amputation is the best option for Clover's long-term comfort, mobility, and quality of life. The damaged leg is not helping her—it is causing ongoing challenges and preventing her from living the active, pain-free life she deserves. The good news is that cats are incredibly resilient. Many three-legged cats go on to live completely normal lives. They run, jump, climb, play, and enjoy life just like any other cat. Once they are no longer carrying a painful, non-functional limb, many actually become more active and comfortable than they were before surgery. That is the future we want for Clover. The South Carolina Community Cat Project is raising $500 to help cover the cost of Clover's amputation surgery, medications, and recovery care. As a rescue organization committed to helping cats in need, every dollar makes a difference and goes directly toward giving Clover the second chance she deserves. Clover has already faced more obstacles than any kitten should. Now she has an opportunity to move forward without pain and enjoy the happy life every cat deserves. Please consider making a donation today. If you're unable to donate, sharing Clover's story can help us reach more people who care. Together, we can help Clover take the next step toward a brighter, more comfortable future. 7/25/26 Update Clover has healed and now adopted! Thank you so much for your donations! We appreciate it!

Calypso

Calypso is a 3 month old Mix-Breed in Boiling Springs, SC, who needs $150 for Tail Amputation & Spay .

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Calypso is a 3-month-old kitten who was found with a severe degloving injury to her tail. This traumatic injury left the tissue exposed and caused significant pain and risk of infection. After veterinary evaluation, it was determined that a partial tail amputation was necessary to relieve her pain and give her the best chance at a full recovery. During the same procedure, Calypso was also spayed to prevent future unwanted litters and support long-term health. Despite everything she has endured, Calypso remains a sweet, loving kitten who enjoys attention and is already recovering well in foster care. Once healed, she will be available for adoption through South Carolina Community Cat Project. We are seeking assistance to help cover the cost of her tail amputation surgery, spay procedure, medications, and follow-up care. As a foster-based rescue, unexpected medical cases like Calypso’s quickly strain our resources. Any support for Calypso’s care will help give this resilient little kitten the healthy future she deserves while allowing us to continue helping other cats in need. 6/11/26 Update Thanks to your kindness and support, Calypso has successfully undergone her partial tail amputation surgery and spay procedure. Her veterinary team was able to remove the damaged portion of her tail, clean the injury thoroughly, and get her on the path to recovery. She is now resting comfortably in foster care, where she is receiving pain medication, monitoring, and lots of love. Calypso is healing beautifully. Her incision sites are looking good, her appetite is strong, and her playful personality is already starting to shine through again. Most importantly, she is no longer in the constant pain caused by the degloving injury. Once her recovery is complete, Calypso will be available for adoption through South Carolina Community Cat Project, where she will have the chance to find a safe and loving forever home. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated, shared, and supported her fundraiser. Your generosity helped cover her surgery, spay, medications, and follow-up care, and it made this happy outcome possible. Thank you for helping Calypso get the fresh start she deserved.

Molly Lost an Eye — Help Her Keep Her Future

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

At just 5 weeks old, Molly should be snuggled up with her siblings, learning how to play, and discovering the world around her. Instead, this tiny kitten was fighting through unimaginable pain. A concerned community member posted on social media after finding Molly with a severely infected and protruding eye. The condition was so advanced that her eye had become badly ulcerated and beyond saving. Desperate to help but unsure where to turn, they reached out online hoping someone could step in before it was too late. When our rescue saw the post, we knew we couldn’t look away. Molly was immediately brought into our care and rushed in forveterinary treatment. Due to the severity of the damage and infection, she needed an urgent enucleation surgery to remove the eye and relieve her pain. Without surgery, the infection could have spread and become life-threatening for such a tiny kitten. Despite everything she has endured, Molly is incredibly sweet and resilient. Even after surgery, she leans into affection, purrs for comfort, and is already beginning to show us her playful spirit. She may have lost an eye, but she has not lost her will to live or her ability to trust. Molly still needs continued veterinary care, medications, follow-up visits, and support as she heals and grows stronger. As a very young orphaned kitten recovering from major surgery, her care is intensive and costly. Please consider donating to help cover Molly’s emergency medical expenses and ongoing recovery. Every dollar helps give this little girl the chance to grow up safe, loved, and pain-free. Because of compassionate people who stopped scrolling and chose to care, Molly now has a future. Let’s make sure it’s a bright one. 5/16/26 Update: Molly’s Vet Bill Fully Covered We want to give a huge thank you to the incredibly generous donor who fully covered Molly’s veterinary bill. 🖤 Your kindness and compassion made it possible for Molly to receive the care she needed without delay, and we truly cannot thank you enough. Support like this changes lives — not only for Molly, but for every cat we are able to continue helping because of people like you. Rescue is exhausting, emotional, and expensive, but moments like this remind us there are still amazing people willing to step up for animals in need. Thank you for being part of Molly’s story and for helping give her a brighter future. 🐾 Finding forever homes for the forgotten.

Rescued from a Manhole—Now They Need Their Second Chance

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

These four tiny kittens and their devoted mom were found in one of the most dangerous places imaginable—inside a manhole on a busy road. Every passing car above them was a risk. Every moment they stayed there, their lives hung in the balance. Thankfully, they were rescued in time. Now safe, we’ve gotten to see who they really are—and they couldn’t be more deserving of a happy ending. Mom is incredibly sweet, gentle, and trusting despite everything she’s been through. Her kittens are just as loving, playful, and full of life. But before this family can move on to the homes they deserve, there’s one critical step: spay and neuter. Fixing this entire little family will: \- Protect mom from future litters and health risks - Ensure the kittens grow up healthy and don’t contribute to overpopulation - Give each of them the best possible chance at a safe, stable future They survived something unimaginable. Now we have the chance to make sure their story truly has a happy ending. Your donation will go directly toward spaying mom and neutering the kittens. Your support helps prepare them for loving, adoptive homes. Your share could bring them one step closer to that future. They made it out of that manhole. Let’s make sure they never have to fight to survive again. 5/13/26 Update: Adoption days are coming soon! These babies are growing up and adoption days have finally come! We are still waiting for a couple to hit that 2lb mark but these guys and gals have grown up to be absolutely precious! Thank you for your support with these kiddos! 5/29/26 Update: Spay and neuter time for these kittens! Thank you so much to everyone who donated it’s now time for these kiddos to get fixed! Help 60 Cats Get the Care They Need to Start Fresh

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Right now, we have 60 kittens and their moms in our care—and every single one of them needs to be spayed or neutered before they can safely move on to loving homes. These cats didn’t come from easy beginnings. Many were rescued straight from the streets, while others were pulled from our overwhelmed local municipal shelters—places where time and space are limited, and outcomes are uncertain. They are safe now, but they are not yet ready for adoption. That’s where you come in. Spay and neuter isn’t just a routine step—it’s one of the most critical parts of rescue. It: \\\\- Prevents painful and preventable diseases later in life - Reduces behaviors like roaming and fighting - Stops the cycle of unwanted litters and overpopulation - Without this care, the cycle continues. With it, everything changes. To fully vet these 60 cats—including spay/neuter surgeries and essential medical care—we are facing an average cost of $7,800. That’s a big number. But it represents something even bigger: 60 lives protected. 60 futures rewritten. Every dollar you give goes directly toward giving these kittens and moms the healthy start they deserve—and ensures they won’t contribute to the already overwhelming number of homeless cats. 💜 Your donation helps cover life-saving spay and neuter surgeries 💜 Your support prepares them for safe, loving homes 💜 Your share helps us reach someone who can make a difference We know it’s a lot to ask. But we also know what’s possible when a community comes together. These 60 cats are depending on us. And we’re depending on you. Help us break the cycle. 4/28/26 Update: New wishlist! We have added a wishlist to our campaign with much needed items. Thank you for your support! 5/13/26 Update We still have approx 55 kittens that need to be spayed and neutered! Adoption days are coming and it costs a lot to get these kiddos to get adoption days ready! 5/31/26 Update As we close out this campaign, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, shared, and supported these deserving cats and kittens. Because of your generosity, we are steadily working our way through the spay and neuter surgeries for all 60 cats in our care. Every completed surgery brings us one step closer to preparing these kittens and moms for the loving homes they deserve while helping prevent future litters and reducing the number of homeless cats in our community. The support we received through this campaign has made a tremendous difference. Spay and neuter surgeries are one of the largest expenses we face in rescue, and your donations have helped ease that burden while allowing us to continue providing the veterinary care these cats need before adoption. Many of these cats came to us from difficult circumstances—rescued from the streets or pulled from overcrowded shelters with uncertain futures. Today, thanks to supporters like you, they are safe, receiving care, and moving closer to bright futures with families of their own. We still have surgeries ahead of us, but this campaign has helped make that goal achievable. On behalf of every kitten, every mom cat, and every volunteer who cares for them, thank you for believing in this mission and helping us break the cycle of overpopulation one cat at a time. Your kindness is creating lasting change, and we are incredibly grateful.

Burned, Scarred, and Still Fighting — Stanley Deserves a Chance at Comfort

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Stanley’s story is one of unimaginable pain—and incredible survival. He came into care after suffering severe chemical burns that covered his face, ears, eyelids, and nostrils. Large portions of his skin were hardened with thick, black dead tissue. He was dehydrated, in excruciating pain, and barely holding on. What happened to Stanley is unknown. But whatever he came into contact with was so caustic that when rescuers tried to bathe him, the chemical residue turned the water green—and even caused a painful rash on the person helping him. His road to survival was long and brutal. Stanley endured multiple burn debridements under sedation, where layers of dead tissue had to be carefully removed. He required constant wound care, strong pain medication, antibiotics, fluids, and eye medications to protect what little function remained. Hidden beneath the damaged tissue were ear mites, adding even more discomfort to an already unbearable situation. His nostrils were so badly damaged that he needed nasal stents just to breathe properly. And even after surviving the worst, the damage did not end there. Parts of Stanley’s ears were lost. His face is permanently scarred. Tight scar tissue pulls at his eyes, and he now lives with a deviated septum that affects his breathing. In the future, he may need surgery to correct the way his eyelids sit, as the scarring can cause ongoing irritation and risk to his vision. The trauma didn’t just leave physical scars. For a long time, Stanley struggled emotionally. When overwhelmed, he would scratch at himself or slam his face into objects—reopening wounds and reliving his pain in ways he couldn’t control. Healing for Stanley has meant not only treating his body, but helping him slowly learn that he is safe. And just when it seemed like he had already endured more than any animal should… Stanley was diagnosed with diabetes. After everything his body has been through—the burns, the chronic inflammation, the medications, the stress—he now requires lifelong management, including daily blood sugar checks, insulin injections, and a strict diet. Without this care, his condition could quickly become life-threatening. Stanley survived the unthinkable. But survival has come at a cost. He now lives with permanent disfigurement, ongoing medical needs, and the lasting effects of deep trauma. This is not the easy, carefree life he deserved after fighting so hard to stay alive. But Stanley is still here. Still fighting. Still deserving of comfort, stability, and care. Stanley has already proven how strong he is. Now he needs people who will stand with him for the rest of his journey—so his future can be defined not by pain, but by compassion. Please help us give Stanley the care he still so desperately needs. 5/3/26 Update We’ve been getting a lot of questions about Stanley’s future… so it’s time to make it official. Stanley is staying with his foster permanently. From day one, she has been there through everything — the late nights, the medical care, the healing, the ups and downs. Their bond isn’t something you question… you just see it. Stanley didn’t just find safety with her — he found his person. And while he may not be going anywhere… he’s still very much ours too. Stanley will officially remain the permanent mascot of South Carolina Community Cat Project — the face of everything we do, the reason so many of you found us, and the little fighter who helped grow this rescue into what it is today. He’s the CEO of Handsome, the Director of Pantry Management, and now… a permanent part of this rescue’s story. He’s home. And he’s staying 5/4/26 Update We are in need of donations from Stanley’s wishlist! Thank you! 5/13/26 Update Update on Stanley 🧡 Stanley is doing really well and we’re so thankful for all of the support, donations, messages, and love everyone has shown him since his diabetes diagnosis. The good news is that he has thankfully not had to go back to the vet since being diagnosed and has been doing well at home. We’ve been monitoring him closely, keeping up with his care, and making sure he stays stable and comfortable. While he’s doing well, his campaign is still not fully funded and we are still trying to cover the remaining balance from his diagnostics, visits, diabetic supplies, and ongoing care. Rescue never really stops at the diagnosis — the monitoring, prescription food, supplies, and follow-up care continue long after the initial emergency. We are also in desperate need of kitten and cat food donations right now. Kitten season has absolutely exploded and the amount of food being used daily is honestly overwhelming. Wet food, dry food, kitten food — we need all of it. 😭 We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped Stanley and our rescue so far. Every donation, share, wishlist order, and bag or can of food truly helps more than people realize. Stanley appreciates the support… even if he still acts personally offended every time we poke his ear. 🧡🐾 6/5/26 Update: Because of you Stanley’s story continues! Because of your generosity, Stanley received the medical care he desperately needed after suffering severe burns to his face, ears, and eyes. What began as a heartbreaking case became a story of healing, resilience, and hope. Your donations helped cover emergency medical treatment, surgeries, medications, follow-up care, and the many supplies needed throughout his recovery. Every dollar made a difference. Stanley has come so far. He went from a scared, injured cat fighting to survive to a happy, playful boy who now knows comfort, safety, and love. While his journey wasn’t easy, he never stopped showing us how strong he truly is. On behalf of Stanley and everyone at South Carolina Community Cat Project, thank you for believing in him. Thank you for sharing his story, donating, sending supplies, and cheering him on every step of the way. This may be the final Waggle update, but it is not the end of Stanley’s story. Because of you, he has a future.

Smokey’s Neck Is One Open Wound—He Needs Help Now

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

After weeks of trying to catch him, Smokey was finally brought to safety—but what we found was heartbreaking. This sweet cat, likely abandoned and left to fend for himself, has been living with a massive, open wound around his neck. The injury is severe—raw, infected, and covered in dead tissue. It appears that something may have been tightly wrapped around his neck for a long time, slowly causing unimaginable pain as the wound worsened day after day. And yet… Smokey is nothing but love. The moment he was safe, he leaned into touch. He purred. He asked for affection. Despite everything he’s endured, Smokey is incredibly friendly—grateful, trusting, and clearly once someone’s pet. Which makes this even harder to understand. Smokey went to the vet immediately, where his wound was cleaned and he was neutered to prevent further suffering on the streets. He also tested FIV positive. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds during fights, which are far more likely to happen among unneutered male cats competing for territory and mates. This is one of the many reasons why neutering is so critical—it reduces roaming, aggression, and the risk of contracting and spreading diseases like FIV. The good news is that FIV is manageable, and cats like Smokey can live long, happy lives with proper care. His diagnosis does not define his future—but his untreated wound will if we don’t act. He will need: \- Continued wound care and cleaning - Medications to fight infection and manage pain - Follow-up veterinary visits to monitor healing South Carolina Community Cat Project is already stretched thin, taking in some of the most critical and heartbreaking cases. But there was no question—we could not leave Smokey like this. Now, we need your help. 💜 Your donation will go directly toward Smokey’s medical care and recovery. 💜 Every dollar helps relieve his pain and gives him a real chance at a safe, healthy life. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Smokey’s story can help us reach someone who can. Smokey has suffered long enough. He’s finally safe. He’s finally being cared for. Now let’s make sure he gets the full chance to heal—and the life he always deserved. 4/21/26 Update Because of you, Smokey is safe. And because of you, he has a chance. When Smokey was first brought in, his condition was truly devastating—an enormous, infected wound wrapped around his neck, likely caused by something that had been embedded there for far too long. It was one of the most severe cases we’ve seen. But even then, Smokey showed us who he is at his core: gentle, loving, and so deeply trusting. Today, we’re relieved to share that Smokey is healing. His wound is slowly improving, and he is receiving the care he so desperately needed for so long. But his journey is far from over. Smokey still requires nightly wound cleanings, ongoing monitoring, and continued medical support to ensure the infection stays under control and his skin can continue to repair itself. In a heartbreaking but telling development, Smokey recently vomited up what we believe was part of the collar or material that had been embedded in his neck—something he may have painfully chewed through himself in an attempt to survive. It’s a stark reminder of just how much he endured before he was rescued. His recovery will take months. And even then, his neck may never fully return to normal. It’s unlikely the fur will grow back in that area—but what matters most is that Smokey will no longer live in pain. And through it all… Smokey remains the same affectionate, resilient boy. He still leans into every touch. He still purrs. He still chooses love. That’s because of you. Your donations, your shares, your support—they made this possible. You took a cat who was suffering in silence and gave him relief, safety, and hope. We will continue to stand by Smokey every step of the way as he heals. And when he’s ready, we will make sure he finds the loving home he always deserved. From all of us—and from Smokey—thank you for not looking away.

Polly Can’t See—But She Can Feel Your Love

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Polly is only three months old—but she’s already endured more pain than most animals experience in a lifetime. When she came to us, both of her eyes were severely damaged beyond repair. Now, for the first time in her short life, Polly is comfortable. She’s safe. She’s healing. She’s already learning how to navigate her world without sight—following voices, seeking out affection, and curling up for snuggles like nothing ever happened. Polly doesn’t know she’s different. She only knows she’s finally loved. Emergency Help for Kiki: A Sick Kitten Fighting to Recover

Boiling Springs, SC • South Carolina Community Cat Project

Nine-month-old Kiki was perfectly healthy just hours before everything suddenly changed. Out of nowhere, this sweet kitten began vomiting repeatedly, stopped eating, and became extremely lethargic. Her caregivers knew something was terribly wrong and rushed her to the emergency vet for help. Veterinarians quickly performed X-rays and discovered a serious problem. Kiki’s colon was severely backed up with stool and gas, a painful condition that can quickly become life-threatening if left untreated. When a cat’s intestines stop moving properly, pressure builds in the abdomen, causing intense discomfort, vomiting, and dangerous dehydration. Right now, Kiki is under the care of the team at South Carolina Community Cat Project and receiving urgent veterinary treatment while doctors work to stabilize her condition. She is currently being treated with: • Emergency exam and diagnostic X-rays • IV fluids to treat dehydration • Medications for nausea and pain • Treatments to help relieve the intestinal blockage • Close monitoring and hospitalization Veterinarians are working to determine whether medical treatment will be enough or if Kiki may need surgery to fully resolve the obstruction. Cats with severe gastrointestinal complications can decline very quickly without care. Thanks to quick action, Kiki is now getting the lifesaving treatment she needs—but the medical costs are adding up quickly. Your donation will help cover: 🐾 Emergency veterinary exam 🩻 Diagnostic X-rays 💉 Medications and supportive care 🏥 Hospitalization and monitoring Just days ago, Kiki was a happy, playful kitten with her whole life ahead of her. With the right care, she has every chance to recover and return to the energetic, curious little cat she’s meant to be. Please consider donating to help Kiki receive the care she urgently needs. Every contribution—no matter the size—brings her one step closer to healing. If you’re unable to donate, sharing Kiki’s story can make a lifesaving difference. Together, we can give this sweet kitten the chance to feel better and keep growing into the wonderful cat she’s meant to become. 4/14/26 Update: Kiki is better! We wanted to share one last update on Kiki and close out her Waggle campaign with a full heart. Kiki has continued to show us just how strong she is. She’s been eating well, gaining strength, and soaking up all the love from her foster family. She especially enjoys being held and doted on, and it’s clear she knows she’s safe now and she feels so much better!
